All they need now is an accountant to tell them they can get somebody to
pick splinters on the bench for a lot fewer $. They can use the savings to
improve the stadium and thereby keep Zambrano happy.

Fuld should stay in the lead-off spot until he shows he can't do it.
Probably just coincidence, but interesting how much better the team has
looked with Fuld at lead-off. However, you can't diss the big money guys,
so Soriano will be back where he wants to be, whether it's best for the team
or not.
I realize that a team's offensive performance has a lot to do with the
opposition's pitching and that three games is a very small sample but
this team looked much more alive and alert the previous two games, when
Fuld was hitting leadoff.
It is almost as if the players hitting behind Soriano realize the team
already is at a disadvantage to score any runs in the inning.
To allow your poorest offensive player,Soriano, to have more at bats
than any other player on the team is certainly not smart baseball and
not in the best interest of the team.....I really don't understand why
Piniella is being so stubborn in this regard.
IMO, it is far past time to tell Soriano he will be hitting lower in the
order, which should give him a better chance to relax, while at the same
time getting better performance from the number one spot. Let Fuld fill
in for Bradley, Fukudome or Soriano and bat him first while he is still
hot....When he cools down, let him be a late inning replacement and bat
Fukudome or Theroit leadoff...These guys may not be ideal leadoff
hitters but they sure give the team a better chance to score runs
instead of having a sure out come to the plate most often.
High priced player or not, to continue to bat Soriano leadoff, has gone
far beyond logic.
I know he will come back down to earth but it sure was exciting watching
Fuld play while batting leadoff the last few games....and the Cubs
looked "alive" as a result.
