The newest report states that the White Sox have traded two players to
K.C. for Mark Teahan.

The rumor is Chris Getz & Josh Fields, but as I type this it is still
just a rumor.

It would be a hell of a deal for the Sox. Mark Teahen can play RF LF
1st and 3d (wow a real live 3d baseman) Ramirez to 2nd ( he was the
second coming of Jose Valetin at SS) and Beckham to SS ( which
should allow him to flourish)
With the signing of Kotsay (another good move by KW . I never thought
I would say that) probably spells the end for Dye. We become stronger
in the outfield defensively without losing any offensive production.

Is Teahen good defensively at 3rd? One thing we know this team needs
lots of help on defense.

I've always thought Teahen was a pretty good player and I think you're
right that it will be a decent transaction.
Nice speed and has always been a thorn in the foot versus the WS.

I thought he was good at 3rd when I'd seen him play against the WS.
He's steady and seemed to have good hands.
I won't miss Josh, but I did like Chris. I especially liked Getz'
speed and he played well for us, overall. When I see somebody play
hard, I always appreciate that regardless of whether or not they're
"big time" performers. It's a good trade as I see it, although the
team takes a bit of a hit on speed.

He is a good player, but nothing special as I see it. His production
this past season was pretty mediocre. For an outfielder, it was
pretty weak. Having said that, I like Getz but we do have one or two
guys in the minors that look like they might be ready at 2nd.

BTW, does KW like these guys who can play a number of positions. How
about guys who can play one really well?

According to the Sun Times if the deal is made Beckham will move to
2B. I don't like that idea as Ramirez is weak at SS. Teahen is not
that strong at 3B so we will see continued defensive weakness in the
IF. With the pitching the SOX have defense should be the first
priority.

His numbers aren't really that far off Dye's numbers
http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/index.jsp?c_id=cws

http://mlb.mlb.com/team/player.jsp?player_id=113679

.Teahan hits for better average w/ more doubles . Dye more homers with
a lower average. The way I see it they are a trade off offensively
but Teahan can play several positions ,is faster and better
defensively

Having said that, I like Getz but we do have one or two

Getz seemed a bit fragile to me and average fielding /.250 hitting 2nd
basemen aren't really that tough to come by

Because they don't command the $$$ that a very good to great position
player would

Got to wonder why they would do that to Beckham. He did everything
they asked last year, learned a new position at the major league level
and produced.. They could put him a position that he could flourish
for many years and eventually be the next real star on this team.
Ramirez is Jose Valentin 2 ( making just enough great plays in the
field to give you hope that he will take the next step up to very good
and to make you overlook his erratic play on routine plays)without the
consistant power that Valentin displayed
To move Beckham to second makes no sense when Ramiez has proven he can
play second well (and has proven that he really isn't much of a SS)
So I guess in sort of a long winded way i'm saying I couldn't agreee
with you more

It makes no sense. Ramirez is not a good shortstop.
