>Does this mean Jenks is gone?
I would think probably not. Putz had elbow surgery last year in June
and before that he was 1-5 with a 5.22 ERA. 2 saves 10 holds . Not
exactly awe inspiring. His career stats are quite good (3.24 ERA and
1+ strike outs per inning)
Putz is in Chicago to prove he isn't damaged goods. We got him cheap
(3M + incentives for 1 year). I think the Sox are hoping that he is
motivated ( and he should be to prove that he is healed and he is in
a contract year. If he can put up good numbers a huge payday looms on
the horizon for him) and will solidify the short and long relief
The Sox claim is he is 100% and ready to go and passed the physical
with flying colors. As a caveat, remember they said the same ting
about Contreras about this time last year
We'll see . I worry about pitchers ( especially power pitchers) 1 year
out from elbow surgery ( Actually less than a year at this point)
Jim
If he's healthy, Putz can easily fill Dotel's spot. You're right about
hard throwers coming off elbow surgery--hold your breath.
This sounds like another high priced gamble - like that puke
Linebrink.
In addition to my bewilderments, the W.S. have released Carrasco.

Not according to the roster on the website. There is no mention of it
in the transaction section either

Guess you are right. A typical KW deal. Get rid of someone who
produces and adds flexiblity and sign a power pitcher that missed the
better part of last year injured.KW is amazing. This is one that will
come back and bite him in the ass. ( as so many have)
Jim
Carasco was eligible for arbitration and you know how the Sox
ownership feels about arbitration eligible players.
