This is the first I've heard about Jones.
I'd watched Jones from the time he came up with the Braves and he in
fact eventually became a superstar in the N.L.
He's had a few bad seasons of late - and I don't know why (actually I
suspect that he had become a bit disinterested in the game, Bobby Cox,
the Braves Organization and also the big bucks messed his head up).
Sure, this may look like a "cheap" move on the part of KW, but if
Jones gets it back together - he can be a terror in the A.L. and carry
the team to another division championship. Like I said, I know nothing
about this - but if this works out favorably, the W.S. will have a
good season.

He didn't have a good year in the A.L. last year hitting .217 for
Texas. I hope it works out, but as far as I'm concerned it's just
another example of them trying to hit the lotto.

This is odd. Granted, he has always been a strikeout machine, but the
last three years, his entire production has crashed and burned. He is
an excellent outfielder. There isn't much downside to the move,
though. They got him cheap enough.

Regarding Thome, no matter who he signs with he isn't going to get
alot of money anymore. He just wants to play and try to get close to
600 HRs. I'll bet whoever signs him will get him for a low base and
incentives. Remember Thome has already banked big dollars. He just
wants to play one more year.
A strong left handed bat is still needed in the everyday lineup
between Quentin and Konerko. If Thome isn't the guy that's fine, but
then they better find someone better than Jones.

Andrew is a little young to give up on but, as you point out, we have
no reason to expect him to put up Dye-like numbers (in previous years,
at least).
