MINTZ TO JOIN ANGELS TODAY
Former Erie Reliever Becomes Sixth SeaWolf to Join Big Leagues

ERIE, Pa - Anaheim Angels' Vice President and General Manager Bill Bavasi has
announced an organizational move that involves a former SeaWolves player.
Former Erie SeaWolves reliever Steve Mintz (RHP) has been called up to the major
league club and will become part of the Angels' expanded active roster.
Mintz becomes the sixth Erie SeaWolves player to receive a call-up to the major
league club this season.
Mintz began the season with the SeaWolves and became the team's top closer by
recording nine saves for the team before his promotion to Edmonton (Class AAA -
Pacific Coast) on June 21.
The ten-year veteran who went 1-1 (2.32) in 26 games for the SeaWolves will make
his second appearance in the big leagues. Mintz made 14 appearances for the San
Francisco Giants in 1995 where he compiled a record of 1-2 and an earned run average
of 7.45.
Ironically, Mintz's promotion comes on the same day that former Erie SeaWolves
staff ace Brian Cooper is scheduled to make his first major league start.
Mintz joins Cooper, Mike Colangelo, Trent Durrington and Ramon Ortiz as original
SeaWolves who are now with Anaheim.
