Wow! The Rangers pull off an epic choke job, really: up by 13 and lose 1st place on the last day of the regular season, then get eliminated at home to BALT in the one-game playoff!
But no one's talking about it, probably because of the Red Sox last year?
(The Chisox did a remarkable swan dive this year too. Anyone ever listen to Hawk Harrelson? I'm glad to see them not make it. Fire that asshole and I might soften. Getting rid of that trog Ozzie Guillen was a start.)
I was rooting for BALT in that game. I was rooting for the Cards in ATL, too. So far, so good.
But my favorite NL team, the Giants, just lost 9-0 and now have to win 3 straight in CIN or go out. Not good. The Giants fans stayed when it was 9-0, wanting the team to jus SCORE A RUN!
The Yankees exploded for 5 runs in the top of the 9th in the first game in BALT to break a 2-2 game open. I actually picked the Yankees, but want to be wrong.
I've noticed a lot of playoff-pressure errors in all the games. All magnified because every play means so much. Coco Crisp's dropped basket catch in DET: lawd!
I watched the Nationals @ Cards game today, rooting for the Cards, I don't know why...probably because I think of WASH as a "new team" (I know there's a long, long history), and new teams, no matter how good, shouldn't get to win it all. But they're good. I still see the Cards winning this series.
The A's are down 2-0 coming back to OAK. A part of me thinks a team with only $51 in payroll (and near where I live) should be a team I'd root for, but they have too much history with my beloved Angels; I despise the A's. Nothing personal against any of their players, coaches, or fans. I think the owner's a jackass, but then most owners of pro sports teams are mega-unsavory to me. (I'd like to see all of N.American pro sports - MLB, NHL, NBA, NFL - be more like the Green Bay Packers Model. Fat friggin' chance.
Even though the Angels are out, I got the Oct fever bad...and a lot of it is due to the advent of the DVR: where I can watch entire games in an hour.

Yankees. Nothing more need be said! With Oakland, I think it's more of
an anti-Detroit, anti-Cabrera, anti-Verlander thing. In the sense of
pro-Trout, pro-Weaver.
In the NL I don't know if I care. Washington is an interesting story.
I grew up reading about the Senators, how awful they were, how they
somehow won the AL in 1924 (or whenever it was), how 75 year old
Walter Johnson came out of the pen and pitched well enough to help
them win the Series. I see the Nationals more like the Senators than
the Expos. I understand the point about new teams. I couldn't really
appreciate the Marlins winning (although I liked the Mets winning in
1969). On the other hand, as we know, the Nats aren't a new team so I
don't have a problem that way.
And Cincy-SF....I don't really care at all. I lived in SF for awhile
in the 80s but never got into the team. I was always the Angel fan
among my circle of friends.
