Again, thank you, brave ladies and gentlemen.
P.S. - Eat it, lib bastards.
I am still in touch with 3 guys who served with me in Vietnam. We all
despise Obama. Coincidence? I don't think so.
Do they all hate Varitek too....?
"BIVOUAC OF THE DEAD"
The muffled drum's sad roll has beat
The soldier's last tattoo;
No more on life's parade shall meet
That brave and fallen few.
On Fame's eternal camping-ground
Their silent tents are spread,
And Glory guards, with solemn round,
The bivouac of the dead.
No rumor of the foe's advance
Now swells upon the wind;
Nor troubled thought at midnight haunts
Of loved ones left behind;
No vision of the morrow's strife
The warrior's dream alarms;
No braying horn nor screaming fife
At dawn shall call to arms.
Their shriveled swords are red with rust,
Their plumed heads are bowed,
Their haughty banner, trailed in dust,
Is now their martial shroud.
And plenteous funeral tears have washed
The red stains from each brow,
And the proud forms, by battle gashed
Are free from anguish now.
The neighing troop, the flashing blade,
The bugle's stirring blast,
The charge, the dreadful cannonade,
The din and shout, are past;
Nor war's wild note nor glory's peal
Shall thrill with fierce delight
Those breasts that nevermore may feel
The rapture of the fight.
Like the fierce northern hurricane
That sweeps the great plateau,
Flushed with the triumph yet to gain,
Came down the serried foe,
Who heard the thunder of the fray
Break o'er the field beneath,
Knew well the watchword of that day
Was "Victory or death!"
Long had the doubtful conflict raged
O'er all that stricken plain,
For never fiercer fight had waged
The vengeful blood of Spain;
And still the storm of battle blew,
Still swelled the gory tide;
Not long, our stout old chieftain knew,
Such odds his strength could bide.
Twas in that hour his stern command
Called to a martyr's grave
The flower of his beloved land,
The nation's flag to save.
By rivers of their father's gore
His first-born laurels grew,
And well he deemed the sons would pour
Their lives for glory too.
For many a mother's breath has swept
O'er Angostura's plain --
And long the pitying sky has wept
Above its moldered slain.
The raven's scream, or eagle's flight,
Or shepherd's pensive lay,
Alone awakes each sullen height
That frowned o'er that dread fray.
Sons of the Dark and Bloody Ground
Ye must not slumber there,
Where stranger steps and tongues resound
Along the heedless air.
Your own proud land's heroic soil
Shall be your fitter grave;
She claims from war his richest spoil --
The ashes of her brave.
Thus 'neath their parent turf they rest,
Far from the gory field,
Borne to a Spartan mother's breast
On many a bloody shield;
The sunshine of their native sky
Smiles sadly on them here,
And kindred eyes and hearts watch by
The heroes sepulcher.
Rest on embalmed and sainted dead!
Dear as the blood ye gave;
No impious footstep shall here tread
The herbage of your grave;
Nor shall your glory be forgot
While fame her records keeps,
Or Honor points the hallowed spot
Where Valor proudly sleeps.
Yon marble minstrel's voiceless stone
In deathless song shall tell,
When many a vanquished ago has flown,
The story how ye fell;
Nor wreck, nor change, nor winter's blight,
Nor Time's remorseless doom,
Shall dim one ray of glory's light
That gilds your deathless tomb.

Cute!
Nam? I tip my hat to you, sir.
I think you mean Francoma.
;)
Excellent. I am still in touch with upwards of 20 guys (and girls) who
served with me in both Gulf Wars, the attack on USS Cole, and the War on
Terror, among other things. We all despise Obama too. No coincidence,
for sure.

I liked it.
For the record I neither hate nor dislike either. My problems with
them are professional, not personal. Francona doesn't think well,
Varitek can't play at all any more.

Of course it is not a coincidence. It is PTSD.

But your hate and dislike for Obama is personal and unprofessional?
Figures.
Both Gulf Wars! Congratulations. How long were you in, Mr. Sunshine? I
was only in for 22 months and 2 days. I got out 58 days early for grad
school. I didn't want to push my luck and stay over one year in Nam.
155 Howitzer gun bunny and later FDC.
It really bothers you. You can't let it alone just as you can't stop
twisting the truth to fit your perceptions. Do you kiss Obama's
picture every night?
Also a pretty sorry statement of how deep their loyalty extends. Open
hatred and defiance of the commander-in chief might even be considered
traitorous...were the party affiliation reversed of course.
BTW...I guess Gnorkie thinks despise does not equal hate? Funny...but it
sure sounds personal to me.
If "open hatred and defiance of the commander in chief" was traitorous
you'de have been hung a long time ago.
I was USN, for 27 years and 9 months. Much of it underway on ships
overseas. Retired in 2006 as an E-9.
Hate it when the shoe is on the other foot don't you? We had to listen to
that bullshit for eight long years. Enjoy.

Along with 90% of this NG.
That kind of snide remark shows what the left thinks about the
military. You sit in your nice safe office never having lifted a
finger to depend anything, and assume there is something wrong with
anyone who isn't part of your plan to turn the greatest country ever
into a weak sniveling socialist state led by someone who travels
around the world apologizing for our success. And you are surprised
many of us find him disgusting and reprehensible. I'm glad I do.
Fag initiates a post that says.. "Thanks" to those who wore the
uniform on this Veterans Day. An honorable and patriotic thing to do
on this day that honors all those who walked the walk as opposed those
who talked the
talk.
Then along comes Gnork and Tailguner Dan C. who decide to bastardize
the preface by inserting their political rants. Instead of stating Yes
today is the day to honor the heroes of such places as the
Marne,Saipan,Normandy,Inchon, the Tet offensive etc.they choose to
inform us that they knew fellow veterans (22 in all) who "HATE"
Obama. WTF does that have to do with honoring our veterans as well as
our active duty folks? Spewing "Hate" within a post that was initiated
to honor all veterans is shameful and disgusting.Keep your political
hatred in its proper place.I have nearly a dozen buddies whose names
are engraved on the black wall in DC and they could give a shit about
your "friends" or your political views, specially on a day reserved to
honor their utimate
sacrifice.
The put their lives on for that right to speak their minds and they
can do as they wish in this thread.
Others can too, of course, but they've just using the stage that those
like Gnork and Dan C. have allowed them to have with their actions.
McSuck - wrong again.
TOUR DE FARCE!!!
:D
yes, we all have the right to be assholes by interrupting a forum for
respecting veterans, and to defend those assholes. some of us choose
not to. you are correct in stating that some of those veterans put
their lives on the line to ensure that assholes would have the right
to disrespect them. it's good to see that those rights are being put
to good use.
Yes, it is.
It's called FREEDOM {or in this case, simply an unmoderated NG ;) }
Sometimes the results of it aren't quite what you would like - that is
part of the package deal, tho.
It's not a matter of having a right to express their opinions the fact
is that political opinions have no place in a post that was supposed
to honor our veterans not to spew "Hate". I say again it's Veterans
Day not "Tea Party Day". If your final statement is directed at me
you've picked the wrong guy. 25 years US Army two (2) tours in the Nam.
You may not think so but the fact is, they have a right to do that.
I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with them OR you, just stating a fact.
I say again it's Veterans

Thank you for your service but said service does not make you "more
right" than anyone else on the matter of free speech.
One last time and I hope it gets through to you. It's not a matter of
free speech. Say again not a matter of free speech. It is a matter of
being inappropriate to spew political "hate" (their word not mine) in
a forum that began as a respectful "thanks" to those who served.By
spewing political opinions in a forum pertaining to respecting the
service of men and women has nothing to do with freedom of speech. It
is not just in appropriate but it's disgusting and has nothing to do
with freedom of speech.Get it? Just as an aside if last Vets Day I had
posted the same with W as the villian. You would have shit your pants
and gone on a rant.ONE LAST TIME it has nothing to do with freedom of
speech they or anyone else has that right and in this case it's simply
not the place to express "Hate" Period.
Fag did that one minute after his original post. You're not gonna get
through to him. As someone who, as evidenced many times by his posts
here, doesn't take responsiblity for his actions, he'll try to justify
it with some lame excuse or another.

Before I even read this thread, I knew that instead of thanking the vets
for their service and sacrifice and leaving it that, these so-called
conservatives would exploit it to push their political agenda. Says a lot,
doesn't it?

The term used was "despise". Not "hate".
Fuck off, Libtard.

Actually, it tells you nothing about the left. At the most, it tells
you something about me. What it tells you about me has nothing to do
with my views on the military, but does tell you something about what
I think of people who hate political leaders for nonsensical reasons.
>You sit in your nice safe office never having lifted a

I'm pleased that you have a high opinion of the safety of offices in
Detroit. Actually, if you are not into the drug scene, and I am not,
Detroit is surprisingly safe. Still, 368 murders for 2008, mostly drug
related.
I have not met anyone who wants to turn the US into a sniveling
socialist state, weak or strong. But I've met a lot, including many
military people (and virtually all of the diplomatic people I know)
who think that US power declined under Mr. Bush.
>And you are surprised
>many of us find him disgusting and reprehensible. I'm glad I do.
I am not even slightly surprised that you find Mr. Obama to be
disgusting and reprehensible. Why would I be surprised? You are a
hater, whether or not it is from PTSD or some other cause.
So then, this extends to John Kerry and Bill Clinton, too, correct?
yes, just as part of the package is the freedom to call out assholes
who disrespect veterans, on their own day no less. and those assholes
who are their apologists.
*wooooooooosh*

Sorry, Christina, but you'll have to cite my repeated failure to "take
responsibility for his actions" whatever the fuck that could mean in a
NG setting.

Maybe it's because The Won is deserving of hate due to his most of his
attitudes, policies and actions.
Yes it is.
> Dano Lewinsky
Yet more brilliance.
How do you DO it?
:D
=========================================================
When did either of them state that they either hated or despised their
president? I must have missed that. I'm sure you will post the quotes and
attribution right?
You posted a thank you to veterans and then one minute later you shit
all over it. Man, you are way too blind to explain even the simplest
of things to. So troll away, junior. It's all you are capable of.
My mother's brother did about 28 years in the Navy. Whatever the
highest non-officer rank is, that's what he was when he got out.
(Chief warrant officer?). He was all over the South Pacific in WW2
and he was in the Korean War. He had shrapnel wounds and eye damage
from kamikaze watch. My dad was in the Aleutians in WW2 and his twin
brother was in the South Pacific. I learned never to say that is was
cold.
Fuck off, tweet-boy. Take your fake girlfriend personna with you.
Again, free speech is something you, like most lefties, can't
comprehend.
> Fuck off, tweet-boy. Take your fake girlfriend personna with you.

Ouch.
Woooooosh!
> Woooooosh!
Explain.
(I love watching them spin themselves sick)
3 people (Lou, Peter and me) have now explained it to you clearly, and
still you either feign ignorance or are genuinely stupid. The issue is
not free speech, it is about you using the free speech accorded to you
by the sacrifice of others to be an asshole.
Again, you don't seem to understand that falls under free speech.
Free speech allows those who don't agree with you to say as they like
- as some in this thread have.
Whining about it only makes you look like a pussy.
Imagine that. :)
Wow, you are not a very rational fellow. No one's whining or disputing
your right to speak your mind. That's all part of your simple-minded
interpretation. They are suggesting that a forum solemnly thanking our
veterans for their service might not be the best place for your
political rants. You thanked our veterans in one post and then one
minute later, because you can't help but to be an asshole, shit all
over it in an another post.
If you *still* can't understand that, you are hopeless.
You missing two points, bm:
1. OFP is an acknowledged liar.
2. Free speech means different things to OFP/DanC and others of their
ilk. They deal with the 'interpretation of the constitution that
reflects their own views,' period.
Give it up. You can't teach a lummox to walk upright.

Wrong and cite where that was ever said by me.

Or a waiter to do something with their life.
You are right, mario in victoria. He is hopeless.
you don't seem to understand that pointing out asshole behavior falls
under free speech. if you don't like being called an asshole, then
don't act like an asshole.
True, all that would fall under free speech.
Ah, the white flag.
Awesome.
You got me. You're too much of a dope to hold a normal conversation
with. You are a dumb guy who doesn't know he's a dumb guy.
> Awesome.
*Whooooooosh*
so why are you whining about it? when you disrespect veterans and
reveal your lack of patriotism, you should expect others to exercise
their freedom of speech and call you on it.
truth bump
