I want the new manager...

.....to be an excellent communicator with his players.

.....to be sure everyone understands their role.

....to treat his players as men.....as long as they behave like men.

....to be patient with the media....as long as they behave like men.

....to protect his players publicly...but let them know that their
mistakes will be addressed privately

....to let the players play. No sacrifice bunting...unless Iglesias
is on the team. Use the IBB sparingly.

....to know the strengths and weaknesses of the relievers and use them
accordingly.

....to encourage aggressiveness on the bases and patience at the
plate.

....to understand the importance....and limits...of modern statistics

....to let his players know that starting jobs are not
guaranteed....and that playing time is not based on contracts.

and most important.....to make the playoffs.

I'd add:
... to be an excellent communicator with his coaches.

Mostly agree, but I'd debate the order. Obviously, you do not wantthe
several female reporters acting like men.

I think you have to assume that some in the media will act badly, and
the manager still has to deal with them. Sad fact of life for most
people in public life.

I'm not sure if there is a different standard of behavior for female
reporters
