Are any of Willingham, Ramirez, Uggla or Ross included? I doubt it, save
the shit Marlins.
Prospects? Gammons is typically wrong, so this is probably no
different. Is a trade to the Marlins something Manny would not veto?
I find that hard to believe.
Why would he? Marlins can't afford him next year so they have to let
him go and Manny gets to go on the free market.
Depends what he wants. Boras could whisper in his ear that it would
almost be guaranteed that his option won't get picked up if he is with
the Marlins.
This is true. However, from the Sox perspective they hardly need more
"prospects" right now. The problem is too many rookies and younger
pitchers not delivering. Not only is there no bullpen, there is no
offense. This would be a huge mistake. The offense in the past made
up for the inadequacies of the bullpen (as well as for Francona's
coaching foibles). Without Manny it will look ten times worse. Put
me down on the record as being completely against trading Manny.
Only if the Ramirez we sent to them a couple of years ago is included
in the deal. Otherwise, they don't have enough.
Unless.... they use the prospects to flip and get Holliday from the
Rockies. Then, I'd be interested.
Yeah Manny looks so happy to be hear by his recent statements and I'm
sure he'll play hard all year. Why get something now when we can let
him walk for nada in a few months.
He does this bullshit every year.
It's beyond tactics and trading strategy at this point. It's toxic (much
as a I hate to use psychobabble) and they have to part. Clubhouse cancer
now.

You can never have too many Chinese sneakers.
Oh give me a goddamn break. He's a future HOF. The Sox can't win on
the road and they can't win at home. They can't pitch and they can't
hit. What talent are you going to get that solves *any* of that?
Giving up Manny just makes all of their flaws more apparent.
Newsflash then you aren't winning with him and will lose him in a few
months...his act is tired and 100% calculated and if not traded I
guarantee he will shut it down to ensure the Sox wont pick up the
option. There will be no mea culpa this time. He wants 4 yrs 100
million and knows he wont get it here. Boras is signing off on this
act because if options get picked up he gets nothing. He wants Manny
to get out and get a new deal. The biggest key though is you said it
exactly they ARE a flawed team and aren't going anywhere with
him...time to part ways are reload for next year.
Not to this degree he doesn't.

The Sox had stretches like this in '03, '04 and '07. They pulled through,
the are just in a brutal stretch of playing bad baseball. When they come
out of it they'll come up dhort in too many games without Manny.

Thanks. You saved me some typing.
How do you geniuses see this working out? He plays his heart out, they
win another championship, we throw another parade and another one just to
say Thanks Manny. Are you fucking insane???

No, but you are being a fucking asshole. We've been through this with Manny
and the Sox before. It's turned out just fine. Address the real issues,
like the lack of production at SS, CF, C middle relief.
Manny's latest rant that the RS "don't deserve me" finishes it for me. Up to
now I felt like many in here; we have been through this before, everything
can be workrd out. I don't think so anymore. I know he has lost me as a fan,
and I have always supported him. I say get him the hell out of here, and
move on. If the RS can't win without him this year, so be it. It won't be
the first time we didn't win it all, and it won't be the last. That said,
I'm not convinced they need him to win. They had him for this series, what
did it get them? If they are going to play such crappy baseball, Manny can't
save them on his best day, let alone with the attitude he is displaying now.
Let's see what we can do without all the bullshit distractions. It damn sure
can't be any worse.

I just think the bad play is temporary and when they get back to solid play
they'll need Manny to take the division although Bay would help too. Yeah,
those Manny comments pissed me off too but he did say he loves the fans so
he is just frustrated with management. I think it's just a power play that
is back-firing on him but if he is back on Friday and hitting bombs all will
be forgotten. They have guys that are hitting just not in the same inning,
that's why you need bats like Manny's. One swing from him can change a
game without relying on a bunch of consecutive hits.
Maybe you just stumbled on the problem. Too much waiting around for (or
trying for) that one big swing and not getting those base hits. A little
fundamentally sound baseball wouldn't hurt either.
People calling me crazy for stating the painfully obvious gets me a
little pissed off.
This team needs many changes, but he's the first. Prediction: if no deal
for him happens, they finish fourth. They are now tied for third in the
loss column.

You sound like just want a shake up then and are pinning it on Manny. If
these team continues to play like this then your prediction is pretty good,
I just think they are under-performing right now, Manny or not and Manny's
bat hasn't been the problem the last couple of weeks.

They alwasy seem to stink in July, so I hope that's it. If no trade comes
through, I don't see Manny being of much use. The best possible scenario
is that he tries to pad his stats, but it's more likely he'll sulk and
whine and get 'injuries' and kill off more relatives. In that situation,
the best the FO could do is tell him now that they aren't picking up his
option, so he focus on the stats and drive some runs in.
"Dano" <janea...@yahoo.com> wrote in message
news:isGdnUNr3dK4qwzV...@comcast.com...
None of that is Manny's fault. He is hitting right now and getting rid of
him won't solve the problem.
He's dogging it...jogging down the line on grounders for one thing. Taking
days off and blaming it on a bogus injury. He is showing disrespect for the
game and his teammates...his manager...the owner...not to mention those that
are responsible for his fabulous income...the fans.
He's a dumb shit too. This will cost him big time in his next contract. If
he does end up staying...he better become a boyscout for the rest of the
year, or it will really cost him dearly.
With Manny, the Marlins could be the Wild Card and might
just get another shot at trashing the Cubs in the post-season.
But all I really care about is a post-season without
the Evil Empire.

Fourth. They are only a few games ahead of Toronto. They are playing
under .500 the last few weeks. I hope that changes, but if not...
