No, the Hostess closing was due to union greed. When your company is in
bankruptcy, it is blatant stupisity to go on strike and demand more
money.

5,000 union members went on strike, encouraged by the union bosses, AS a
result, 18,500 people are now out of work.

Funny thing- the union bosses still have their six-figure salaries and
their jobs while their (soon to be ex) members now get to collect
unemployment.

As per Hostess, they've had a very tired lineup forever, and American
tastes have changed radically in the meantime.

Not to mention they've been losing money for a while.

Not to mention they pulled the Bankruptcy stunt in 2003 or 2004.

They can blame God, for all it matters. It is/was a poorly run company
with no share earnings to speak of.

But naturally, people who haven't a clue anyway will instantly believe
the PR bull.

1. Upper management got huge pay raises while the rank and file had
their wages cut big time.
2. Management has renegged on pension payments.
3. The current ownsers loaded the company up with debt with the
intention of destroying the unions.

In 2004 they laid off/fired 4,000 employees. I don't remember if they
blamed Bush II for that.

Fact is, in 2003 they had 30,000+ employees and in 2012 (now) they have
19,000. This is a very well run company.

Oh...they filed for Bankruptcy in January.

I'm confused about how you can file for Bankruptcy twice within 11
months, but I'm sure the heavily leveraged investment firms that own it
want to sell, shake off debt, and make themselves a lot of money.

Very badly run company.
