What happened exactly? Was interference called on the play? I don't
get Turner South, but ESPN says:
ATLANTA SECOND BASEMAN MARCUS GILES LEFT THE GAME AFTER COLLIDING WITH
CHICAGO'S MARK PRIOR TRYING TO FIELD A GROUND BALL IN THE BOTTOM OF THE
SECOND INNING.

Prior on first, 3-2 count with 2 out Grudz hits a slow roller to the
right side as Prior is running and is looking in towards home to pick up
the ball, Marcus charging hard to get the roller. Ball, Giles, and
Prior get to Point C simultaneously with Marcus reaching down for the
ball. Prior looks up just in time to see Giles. Prior goes
somersaulting over Giles' body landing on his right shoulder, Giles gets
hammered in the head by Prior's knee/thigh and lays stunned
on the ground. Neither player unconscious, but neither exactly trying
to get off the ground. The ball caroms to Furcal standing on second
base, but the ump already calling Prior out for interference for out
number 3.
Prior holding his right arm/shoulder initially but walks off field and
continues to pitch not quite so effectively all to the Braves advantage.
Giles lays for another several minutes and finally walks off the field,
but is very shaky and doesn't look to be completely with it. I suspect
he has a slight concussion and is going to real sore for a few days.
Prior 6-3 230, Giles 5-8 180.

Thanks much! Sounds painful, plus it certainly would be a major
disappointment for Giles if this keeps him out of the all-star game.
It sure looke like it was going to hurt once he can feel anything
again. I was actually more worried about Prior initially and
thought he may have dislocated his shoulder or broken a clavicle,
but he seemed pretty much OK. His fastball was OK the next
couple innings, but he wasn't quite as sharp with his control
and allowed the Braves several baserunners that came back to hurt
him.
One correction, it was a 1-2 pitch instead of 3-2, but Prior was
looking in towards to ball trying to pick it up and didn't anticipate
Giles being anywhere near the play. Inexperienced pitcher running
the bases causing all the problems.
