Does anybody think that the Pirates could be persuaded to ship Brian Giles
and Jason Kendall to Atlanta?
Now that the Braves have re-signed Javy Lopez, they could package him in a
deal ... I've always liked Javy, but if the Braves could make the right deal,
I'd ship him in a heartbeat. :)
How about this?
Kevin Millwood, B.J. Surhoff and Javy Lopez
FOR
Brian Giles and Jason Kendall

can't do it. teams can't trade free agent acquisitions (i.e. javy)
until after the all-star break, per the CBA.

anyway, that's a lot for pittsburgh to give up for just kevin millwood
and one year of surhoff and lopez. a HELL of a lot.

Cam Bonifay is no longer the GM. Forget Kendall, you want Giles? That would be Marquis,
Perez, Betemit and Wainwright.

Your best move and the most obvious as well is Giambi and he is still very available.
Just "blow his socks off" with a $20mil/yr offer. The fact that the Braves won't
consider this is the very reason why they win division titles the way the Yankees win
the trophy.

Well other than the fact that Lopez can't be traded until the AS game
since was just signed as a FA, why would Pittsburgh to this? There has
never been a GM that stupid. But I would do it. I'd trade Millwood and
Surhoff for Giles or just Millwood if they preferred.

Does anyone forget that Maddux's and Glavine's contracts are up after next
season? I think we need to look into re-signing them next season.

well it's almost getting to the point with the new "payroll problems" that
either glavine or maddux will have to take less or hit the road if the team
actually wants to score any runs. oh wait then millwood will probably be
asking for 10-12 mil a season.
