Indraprasth aka New Delhi - After losing at the Asian Games, Saina
Nehwal might have left the country heartbroken, but the champion
shuttler surely knows how to make up for it.

On Sunday, Saina picked up her career's fourth Super Series title,
coming back strongly from a first-game deficit to down China's Wang
Shixian 15-21, 21-16, 21-17 in the Hong Kong Open Super Series final.

Speaking to The Pioneer on phone from Hyderabad after her daughter's
victory, Usha Nehwal said that her 20-year-old was shattered after
the Asian Games quarterfinals loss and took time to come to terms
with the disappointment. "She was shattered. She came to me and said,
'How can this happen? I was playing so well all along. How could I
lose?' Being a mother, it was tough for me to see her so upset but
the latest win has proved how hardworking she is. The feeling is
unbelievable!" Usha said.

Ending the year on a high, Saina has achieved the rare feat of
winning all the finals she has entered this year -- the Indian Open,
Singapore Open, Indonesian Open, Commonwealth Games and now the Hong
Kong Open.

Even though the Hyderabadi likes to sleep soundly before the final
match of any big tournament, Saturday night was different. According
to Usha, for some reason Saina's hotel room was booked only till
Saturday, which meant the World No 4 had to shift, leaving her with
only enough time for a catnap.

But such is her determination that despite the lack of sleep, Saina
drained her opponent and won Sunday's final. "It is always difficult
to beat Chinese players because they are strong and have good
strokes. But it is not impossible. I went into the game with this
attitude," Saina said from Hong Kong.

Interestingly, Saina, who will be returning around 1 am on Tuesday,
had asked her father (Harvir Singh) for an Audi A8 luxury car as the
prize for winning the Asian Games gold or the Hong Kong title. While
Harvir has promised to buy her a multi-crore villa instead, there is
one thing surely awaiting Saina at home, as promised by Usha -- Aloo
ke paranthey with chutney.
