DAY FIVE FINAL RESULTS
ONE MORE TIME ...
Michelle Gould and Cheryl Gudinas successfully defended their national doubles title today, with a straight game win over current
world doubles champions Joy MacKenzie and Jackie Paraiso. Twins Jackie and Joy held a brief lead in the first game, reached
five first, but then stalled for the remainder, earning only a scant two more points before Gould ended the first game 15-7 with an
ace drive serve to Jackie. In the second, the two teams again tied at five and the challengers staged a rally which took them to
13-14 before Gudinas hit a seam on the right hand glass wall that cracked out for the match win.
OLD & NEW ...
In the Men's Open division, '95 silver medalists and #2 seeds Todd O'Neil and Derek Robinson moved up a notch with their own
straight game victory over two-time former world doubles champions Doug Ganim and Dan Obremski. Ganim and Obremski
played out their best performance in over five years by reaching the final, but it was O'Neil and Robinson who moved into the
winner's circle with identical scores of 15-9, 15-9. O'Neil is the current world singles champion, and Robinson is a former U.S.
Olympic Festival champion and '95 Pan American Games bronze medalist.
