Someone please help an old, retired marshall out!

I was part of the original team that opened Q-ZAR Montgomery, and while
visiting my store last weekend I was deeply hurt by the "Out of Business"
sign on the door. The arcade games and everything I could see from the
window were all there; so the closing must have been very recent. Finding
my home store shut down was even more disheartening because while on a
business trip last month to San Francisco I found the phone numbers to three
different Q-ZAR centers disconnected. What's happening!?!??!?

I live in Mobile, and that center along with Pensacola died when the Q-Group
went under so long ago. If I remember correctly, Panama City went up in
flames. Montgomery was the closest center I had, and now it seems that
either Atlanta or Birmingham, 4 - 6 hours drive depending on traffic and
destination, are all I have. Anyone know of any other centers on the Gulf
Coast? I don't know of any centers in Louisiana or Mississippi.

So what happened to Montgomery anyway? Could the store be relocated to
Mobile? Mobile always edged out Montgomery on revenue anyway back when
there was competition. What would it take to pull that off? I have always
loved this game, and I will do whatever I can to help it survive on the Gulf
Coast.

I'll tell you want happened to that Q-ZAR They weren't making enough business
at all...the packs were jack packs...I was ashamed to have people come visit
knowing that our packs really did suck. Then going to the tournaments and using
good ass packs. Yeah...my team does suck...why? Because we practiced with shit
and had to spend money on tournaments to have people beat our asses to get
better. Well now our store closed down. I think there are only two people in
Montgomery that would still want to go to Tournaments. Me and Shafi...Dominic
and Craig...I couldn't tell you for a for sure fact. I really couldn't...

It's sad to hear that it fell into disrepair. Oh how I would love to reopen
Q-Mobile. It even appears to be a good business move. I can't be the only
person that misses Q-ZAR on the gulf. Mobile and Birmingham always competed
for top spot in revenue when there were 5 diferent Q-ZARs in Alabama. The
only reason Q-Mobile closed was the Q-Group bankruptcy. Pensacola is only
an hour away, and I'm sure that we could get visitors from there who
remember Q-ZAR. With a little marketing we could also get people from
Mississippi to come (Biloxi/Gulfport is only 45 min away). Hopefully the
Montgomery fans would even visit occasionally. In October we're getting a
Carnival cruise ship port; so that means more rotating tourists. This could
really work. All it needs is a backer, managers, location, all of the very
hard to find Q-ZAR equipment, and the assistance of God almighty to make it
happen. Piece of cake.

Are there any store managers willing to tell me revenue history, # of games
sold per month, operational costs, and other information I would need to
write a business proposal. I can't expect to find a backer by telling them
how much fun people have playing Q-ZAR. I need to have numbers.

No the arena was cool. The way it was set up and shit, but after that...the
packs weren't helping. A lot of bouncing areas that couldn't be shown if good
packs were acquired.

Anyone know what will be happening to the arena pieces or the packs?
I'd be an interested in taking at least a couple packs off your hands for
the time being.
Just e-mail me with some prices or further info.

Thanks,

All the stuff is gone. This is Jeremy Gardner, I too was an original
member of the crew. Some of it was sold to Tony Otto in Birmingham,
some of it was thrown out (yes, I said thrown out because the owners
were idiots), and some misc pieces are still there (energizers, gun
casings, score boards). I'm not sure how much they are askign for
whats lefts, but I'm pretty sure its way too high. Last I heard the
guy was using a 1996 price guide which had green packs at $6,000.

Addressing what GaJuan said, the packs could have been fine, had they
been taken care of. Marshal's were never watching their games and the
equipment was almost never maintained, except when Will came in to
work on them. Overall, it is very sad to know that the store has
closed its doors for the last time. The only place tp play in the
state is in B'Ham, but they don't like tournament players very much.
Lastly, Will and I would love to go to a tournament, but we don't have
a good core to play with. Can you say hired guns :)
