I am looking at converting a PaintBall Nitrogen tank for inflating
automobile tires. I have tire pressure gauge that allows you to easily check
the pressure WHILE inflating the tire. Some I am thinking if I can have the
tank put out a pressure somewhat low I can watch the tire pressure using
this gauge.
Has anyone done this already?
Any advice or suggestions?
Thanks ahead of time,
I have done something similar with scuba tanks.
A little difficult to do considering the standard configuration of your
paintball bottle, though. Not impossible ... just not easy.
The bottle is pretty low volume compared to a car tire so reducing
pressure shouldn't be necessary. Just flowing air into the tire will
reduce the pressure substantially. Plumb your valve at the tank, install
a hose good for about 100 psi or better and go for it!
And as far as checking tire pressure while filling, it isn't going to be
accurate since air is flowing from higher pressure to lower pressure and
the gauge is going to be reading what is in the fill hose ... not the
tire. It will be close, but the more accurate way to see the tire
pressure is to stop filling and check then.
