I went to start my Sea-Doo 1998 SPX, and upon taking out the
pulgs found that the cylinders were loaded (FILLED) with fuel-oil
mixture. It blew out of the spark plug holes when I hit the starter. I
pumped the excess mixture onto a rag and installed new plugs. Still
would not start, and when I removed the new plugs, they were soaked in
gas, tried this 4-5 times with the same result. Ski would not start,
and the plugs soaked in gas.

Any suggestions appreciated,

Tony

Actually it sounds more like he has a needle/seat stuck open, worn, or too
low of a pop-off pressure allowing fuel to flow into the cylinders.

I had a problem like this happen to me once. My PWC was tilted back
on a trailer and the fuel siphoned though the primer. If you had a
leaky carb nead & seat, I wouln't expect so much fuel to siphon though
unless teh PWC was tilted far back. It can only siphon though if the
fuel tank is in a position higher than the carbs.

Are you sure it's not a water/fuel combination that came out?

Buy a new one-way valve and install it in the gas tank vent line. They are
cheap at about $4 from the SD dealership. When the gas tank expands, it
needs to have this one-way relief valve in good working condition, or the
fuel pushes past the needles and seats.

Bill,

Is this the same type of valve that is on the oil tank vent on the
'99 GTX-LTD. Although my valve is only showing a drip or two, I've
heard that these valves can leak that liquid gold into the hull.

Thanks,
