( Both just stock machines ).
Thanks in advance. E-Mail JCR...@GOV.PE.CA
I also own a 96 SL900, the machine to buy. It is almost all stock and the
speedo shows 68.1 MPH. I know speedos are not accurate, but it will
consistantly run 66, 67.

As you probably know, the 1995 SLT750 has a 744cc 80hp triple-cylinder
engine. The 1996 SLT700 has a 700cc 80hp two-cylinder engine. A friend
of mine has a 1995 SLT750 and my '96 SLT780 is a bit quicker and faster
than it. As for the SLT700, I'd imagine it's pretty quick (I know it's
fast... it posted the highest speed in the low-buck 3-person runabout
comparison in a test by Personal Watercraft Illustrated a few months
ago. Incidentally, it also won first place overall, too.)
Hope this helps!

I, too, just purchased the SLT780. During the break-in period, I too,
experienced the same results. However, the craft now has 18 hr.s and
the issue has gone away???? It just vanished over night. Maybe it has
something to do with the break-in??? Please let me know what you find
out.
Now I'm beginning to experience another issue. When I start the PWC
after it's been stored for a couple of days, it idles very low...to the
point that it cuts off. Only after letting it warm up, and I ride it
for awhile does it idle normal (1100 - 1300 rpms). Have you seen this?

Mine does almost the same thing. At about 4000-4200 it seems to hit a
dead spot. I can feed it alittle gas and almost no response. But I hit
a point and it takes off like crazy. It seems to me that this is where
the cross over between the low and high speed jets are. I think it is
part of this engine.
