Thanks Bar! Always hate to see one of the old tracks go dark. BM and
GG used to be 2 of my favs in the early 80's. Once put $50 on a sure
thing there on a SA invader expecting an easy $4.00 even money win.
The Horse won easy but paid $9.60! Also hit my 1st $1,000 exacta there
the same week betting at the Santa Anita Book in Vegas. 'Boots Malone'
a great movie for old horse racing fans!

Odd that harness racing at Bay Meadows wasn't mentioned in the timeline ;-)

Easy Irv is buried there (and others I'm sure)

Great old place that I will really miss. During the Bay Meadows Fair
(when all the seasonal box seats are up for sale) I would buy box E-9,
the best seats in the house.

Quarter horses, my first big harness race exacta, riding the commuter
train there from Redwood City....lots of memories.

I agree that simulcasting has ruined racing as a live spectator sport.

That was strange about the neglect of harness (and quarter horse)
racing. Check out

byrdman,
My archived data set contains many summaries and photo's of harness
racing at BM as early as 1947 and as late as 1959. My archives from '59 are
rather sparse. As are my 1941-48 (sparse)
