yes I read Eric Hofsteader's book on anti-intellectualismism and the
"heartland." I was born in Georgia
but luckily "escaped" before becoming overwhelmed by that "folksy"
b.s. society.

Ft. Lauderdale quickly became infested after the late 60's movie
"Where The Boys Are" starring fem boy George Hamilton among others.
Many normal Lauderdale citizens bame that movie...and they are
probably right. 8 miles south is Hollywood Fl. one of the most
conservative cities in Florida....no gay bars...not even one!

There was a time when people could just be what they wanted. That WAS
the lure of this country. NO LONGER. It is better to be Norwegian or
some other off the beaten path locale and no longer be counted with
the imperialists and their CIA minions. Too bad. Had a good thing
going for a very long time.
