Tami Visa v Go-ped

Everyone knows that there is no comparison between the Tami Visa
(called the Scorpion in the UK) and the Go-ped. However due to our
money grabbing twat of a government, the Bigfoot ped costs around
$1040 in England, but I can get a Tami locally for $600.00. Because I
want 5 miniscooters for a commercial application (Fair/Fete type
attraction) thats a $2200 saving if I get the cheap ass Tami.
? Is the Tami Visa/scorpion as crap as everyone says.
? Is the rumour of Tami's financial downfall correct

Go-peds, Sports, Liquamatics, and Bigfoots, are now also made in Ireland to
reduce shipping, lead times, and those confiscatory government penalties. Fax
your request to the California factory at 925-373-6415. They will try to
help you find a dealer that can get you a more competitive price. Don't get

Dear Nic,
This is definitely the WRONG place to get objective answers to your query. Let
me tell you why.
1) There are at LEAST 4 different representatives of GOPED scooters haunting
this newsgroup. They ALL trash Tami because they want to sell modifications
and/or parts to goped users.
2) As all the non-reps like to point out this is a goped newsgroup and like all
faithful groupies they all love to trash Tami cause it makes them sleep better.
3) Lastly, the remaining people who respond to various needs for genuine info
are prepubescent children who act their shoe sizes instead of their ages and
complain about everything under the sun.
This said:
I spoke with an INDEPENDENT dealer and hobbyist here in NYC. He went out to
Arizona to see the new toys out there and came back beaming over the Tami's.
Are they better than the Goped, yes and no. It depends on what you want from
your scooters. If you want to thrash and want hi performance racing
applications, then the goped is indeed more rugged and is extremely high
quality. Just because goped is very high quality doesn't mean everyone else
sells junk. You see goped guys are pissed off because Tami stole much of their
design patents and were actually held accountable in court. Tami was told not
to misrepresent themselves as gopeds. Goped, unlike Moped is a registered
trademark but like scotch tape or xerox copies the originator sometimes suffers
from creating a new type of product and has problems when inevitably a good
idea is replicated. Tami's are knockoffs. According to "John" let's call him
John. John isn't interested in newsgroups or the internet. He is only
interested in one thing- portable scooters. He sells Bigfoots side by side
with Phantoms, Blatinos, Tami's, Viza's and a few others you haven't heard of.
He sells them all because in the REAL world there is a choice. If you can buy
a Viza/Tami and can get service from your local guy for reasonable prices it's
up to you. Don't let these drain brains influence you. The people on this
site act like Viza engines are made of tin cans or something. If you CAN
afford it, the Blatinos are like the Mercedes-Benz of the mini scooter world
(they specialize in mini motorcycles and have licensing agreements with the
likes of honda, ducati etc) The Rolls Royces of the pushped scooter world
would definitely be the Badsey scooters which by the way are electric and are
available in the UK. They are extremely pricey though.
Again, I'm not goped bashing but they also have their share of problems just
like EVERYONE does. Just keep a close eye on the posts on this newsgroup and
you'll see many ads selling used peds and another larger portion of posts
pleading for help. The only answer most of them get is "buy this or that new
goped" or go ahead and " send away your goped for this modification or that
one". It's all a crock. Look towards motorcycle enthusiasts in your local
area for true answers and always buy from a dealer who offers you a choice- NOT
the dealer who only sells one brand because "it's the best and everyone else in
the world sucks- except for us".

Gopeds use overseas parts, including the engine which is made in Japan.
Besides, half the stuff in your house is probably made in China among other
oriental sources.

What news group are you keepin your close eye on? Not this one for sure. It
looks more like pleadings to BUY used gopeds, not so many to sell. where i
come from that means hi demand and hi resale value. maybe your watchin your
sugestion board at visa.

Ok Crustie, I've spoken to you before and it looks like you need another
spanking only this time in public. First of all, all of those people pleading
for cheap gopeds are pleading cause they're usually broke, this has nothing to
do with resale value. Second I have nothing to do with Viza, I own a goped.
Third you're the one I had in mind when I mentioned people acting their shoe
sizes instead of their ages.

I'm new in this newsgroup so I apologise for looking a geeky twat, but I
cant stand these obsession heads who make crap up.
Nonetheless where can you get these cheap Visa's from in the UK; I could
only find one place that even sold Ped's, let alone korean products.

Ahh, this may go some way to answering a question I have. My company bought
a Bigfoot as a prize only weeks before my purchase. Their ped has a brand
mark on the deck some tape around the bars and a different air filter.
Would these changes indicate country of manufacture or is it a shelf life
issue?

I looked at these before buying my Bigfoot, the Viza things were double
cheap in the UK. But, try and find anything but stock parts, try and find
stock parts, try and find anyone who's documented out of warranty repairs
and modifications, try to find someone to race.
I also find it interesting that you have to poo, poo on Gopeds in order to
sell your product.

I'm sure it was a thread on here that mentioned how to get one cheaply, I'd
suggest going back about 3 weeks, it cant have been much further back than
that. You can order direct from the factory (with a bit of blagging) I
think, and shipping was incredibly reasonable.
The only problem I've had with my Bigfoot in the rain is getting wet.
