I think that varies too much from car to car to get a good guess.

Looking at the NHRA indexes for cars that run around 6.70's in the
eighth-mile, the quarter mile indexes are in the mid 10's.

We do some mental math to help put the gloss on a lap if the racer has
a problem in the second half.

For cars that work the start line well we add 60% of the eighth mile
time to get a quarter mile estimate and for streeters and cars that
are slower in the first half we add 55%.

This is only an estimate but it usually good enough to get a fair
indication of the cars potential and it gives me something possitive
to tell the crowd at a time when they are dissapionted because a lap
was aborted.

It'd be about 10.50.

Multiply the 1/8 time by 1.57 - that should be a decent guess at the 1/4 ET,
depending on gears, etc.

you can go to www.virtualengine2000.com and download a free engine math
calculator. Use it to figure out 1/4 and 1/8 mile conversion

to get a pretty close guess, get a national dragster paper, they have
1/8 and 1/4 mile times in there for all the different classes. a 6.70 is
somewhere between a 1060 and 1080.......but get a natl. dragster paper
