Hey all,

I am in the final stages of making a game room. I have a horsehair
board from about 1986 that has minimal use so I figured I would use
it. I hung the board as per specs I googled and am having a hard time
keeping the darts from breaking. The floor is concrete and the board
is mounted right behind a door so using a mat is not an option. It
seems I lose shafts as soon as the darts hit the concrete floor. Does
anyone make a dart or shaft that can withstand that kind of abuse?
Would steel shafts or Tungsten shafts hold up better than the $2 wal
mart plastic POSs?

TIA,

Derek

Most aluminium shafts are about the same. Problem with your setup is they are going to bend just about every time they crash. Nylon will more often or not hold up on hard floors the best imo.

Your board is VERY old and that means its probably almost like concrete. Allot of people will tell you to spray water on it but that only helps to keep a board hidrated. Once it dries get rid of it. For 60-70$ in a real game shop you get a super nice knife blade board that your darts will sink into.

After you make sure your gear is good it helps to be able to hit the board:)

Simple solution just hire someone to catch the darts if they fall out of the
dart board.
