Match 1: W. Webb (CMCR, up 5) 199
J. Hromek (Zone, 15 to 5) 206
Enjoyed seeing Webb bowl again on TV, the CMCR looked good, but
he perhaps had a bit of speed control problems and left a couple
unmakeables which made the difference
Justin shot the new Zone and looked good once he found his line.
Match 2: J. Hromek (Same) 231
J. Stayrook (Omega 10 to 2) 191
Justin got locked in, Stayrook never really got going today. Second show
in a row for the big lefty.
Match 3: J. Hromek (Same, making some moves now) 219
E. Forkel (Piranha/C Blue) 193
Thought this would be a tight match as Justin was having to move
back into the oil and starting to have a bit of difficulty carrying.
Forkel looked tight though, and like Jess, never got going....
Finals: J. Hromek (Zone, did he switch balls?? now 18 to 5) 213
M. Scroggins (Omega with silica swirls) 190
This one went into the tenth with Scroggins needing X8/ to tie. He
went high and that was that. Hromek wins his second singles title.
Scroggins sure played with fire out there, on the left lane he was
twice in danger of impersonating Del Ballard. Made nice adjustments
towards the end and made for an exciting final though.
Show comments: I really like Hromek, powerful game, never forgets to
thank his sponsors, and seems to be a nice guy too. $35,000 to win, not
quite the Eliminator, but not bad for a PBA event :)
Ob Bo comment: Ok, so it's Dick Weber doing color and I thought they were
doing well until he suggested that Stayrook should have used his maxim for
strikes. Mike Durbins tip was cool though, sure wish they could get him
back in the booth with Leila :( Overall, I'd rather watch ESPN than ABC
too.
