I'm thinking of getting the Russian CO2, Anics 101, and I'd welcome some
opinions about the gun. Now, from what I've heard, Anics' guns are decent
and powerful but tend to have average accuracy. As far as this goes, I think
accuracy will usually depend mostly on the shooter ;) so what I'd like to
know most is if the 101 is it made well and if its power really goes up to
the declared
140 mps. What do you think about this model, in general? Thanks in advance.

Count me in on this discussion, I have been thinking about getting the Anics
SKIF A-3000. It is in the Compasseco cataloge on the outside back cover.
Also at http://www.compasseco.com/Products/New/new.html (at the top of the
page).
But I have never heard of the manufacturer, so I am a bit leary.

Has anybody had any negative experiences with Anics?

I had an Anics A111 which is basically the same gun, just a bit of difference
in the styling, the gun is powerful enough, uses steel BB's,the power can be
increased by removing the top section of the gun, remove a screw at the front
and a pin at the back and stretch the spring that is over the barrel by
about 1/4 inch, you will only get about 40 shots per capsule after doing this
instead of 60+.
I got my Anics from www.pyramydair.com in America, they are selling the A101
just now for $45 which is about £30,I got mines grabbed by UK customs and
had to pay duty and VAT on mines but even with that and the postage it only
cost about £53 which is a saving of about £ 25-30 on british prices, and if
it gets through customs without getting caught a lot less.
Hope this helps.
Billy.

I have written an FAQ for the A-3000: www.pistolfaq.btinternet.co.uk

If there is anything you would like to know that I haven't covered in the
FAQ, just ask here or e-mail.

Interesting Steve. Thanks for taking the time to write this. It is very
informative. BTW, is it made of metal or polymer? Just curious.

Which adjustment? Lost the ball bearing?

Accuracy is somewhat impaired by the short barrel IMO.

Oops, so maybe they're not as durable as I just said...? ;-)

Great, thanks for the info. What I've heard so far about Anics' guns is that
they're made a bit roughly but well, and they're durable (that last thing
would please me most, because I've had some not so fortunate experiences
there with some CO2's).

For the money you cant go wrong especially if you get it from the states, its
ridiculous that you can get an Anics shipped from America pay the duty and
Vat and still save £25-30 on British prices,rip-off Britain right enough.
By the way the screw at the front is covered with plastic which you will
have to pick off or melt.
The Anics does about 475 fps and after the spring stretch does about 550
fps,I suppose you could get another spring from an ironmongers or something
like that.
Billy.
If ordering get a couple of extra mags they dont cost much.
Let us know if you go ahead and get one.

If adjusting for windage (left/right) there is a circlip on the left hand
end of the screw that you occasionally need to turn when it tightens up. Is
that what caused the break?

Extra magazines can be ordered from your retailer of choice. If it is a
local shop the magazines are available from the distributor (John Rothery)
and should cost £10 each. Your broken parts could be a BIG problem. From
what I hear there are no spare parts for the A-3000 available in this
country (UK) at the moment. Again, ask your retailer of choice and if they
are no good, as a last resort contact Rothery directly. Rothery don't
usually deal with the public though. As I say, the parts *might* be
unobtainable.

When you say lost, you mean it broke off (as usual) and you couldn't find
where it went? I had one magazine arrive "pre-broken" with no bit of metal.
Needless to say that went straight back to the shop for a replacement.
