Just installed Open S 10 on a spare PC. no probs installing but I cant
seem to connect 2 the "net"
I've checked a few FAQs' but couldnt find anything. I turn 61 in
September and have played with Linux a bit.
What should I check ?
Thanks, M.

I downloaded Open S as a single DVD Iso image from the S site.
I think its ver 10. it went onto a AMD chip running at ( I think) 2.6
and 1 gig ram. it installed no probs. I didnt get any error msgs.
when I start Firefox it says it cant find my home site.
www.internode.on.net
same with Thunderbird. it cant find mail.internode.on.net what
settings should I check ?

That doesn't really help, did you download OpenSolaris, or Solaris 10?

What network options were you offered during the install, if you weren't
offered any, you NIC probably wasn't recognised. If you were, what does

ifconfig -a

report?

Twas open S and I wasnt offered any options. I'll do the ifconfig -a
and see wot it says.
Thanks, M.

Then your NIC isn't recognised.

If you have another OS on the box that does, download the Sun device
detection tool and see what it is.

If it is OpenSolaris then Applications > System Tools > Device Driver
Utility will provide the same sort of info. (Except it won't tell you
about Solaris 10 drivers...)
