configuring DNS on solaris 10

Hi,

I am on SunOS 5.11 snv_50. on an intel box

I am trying to set up DNS for the box as i aim to use it as a mail
server..
can some one point / give steps to do the same.
The name server has to be setup on this box as i do not aim to use the
ISPs name servers.

any other info required pls let me know.
Help/ advice shall be greatly appreciated.

There are no special tools to do this In Solaris.
You either need to install some opensource or commersial
GUI frontend or you need to use an editor and edit the zone files
by hand.
If you dont know about BIND 9 zonefiles you need to read a book.
particularly this one:

I usually place the the zone files in /var/named
then edit the /etc/named.conf file .

then you need to turn on the DNS server.

# svcadm enable /network/dns/server
