I'm seriously considering the SMA Sunny Island inverters for an off-
grid home in Spain. But I can't really find any references to
successful installations (apart from marketing material from SMA).
Does anyone have experience with this system - and would you recommend
it?
The primary reasons I'm considering it are:
- The flexibility in the AC side coupling
- The ability to use high voltage PV configuration

Stephen
I have been using an SMA SB6000U interter for a little over a year and am
very pleased with it. There is another thread in this list called:
Re: 9,500 kWh of production in first year
That has a description and links to some photos if you are interested. Thank
you.

If I were grid connected, I'd go with the SMA inverters straight away
as they have a good reputation. But it's their off-grid Sunny Island
battery inverters which have me asking questions. The other off-grid
inverter manufacturers seem to have healthy online user groups with
many people posting tips/questions and generally sharing information
about the systems - but nothing for the Sunny Islands.... odd.

I think that model is pretty new. There may not be many with the
experience you are looking for.
