I had this fundamental doubt- can non-solar ambient light (say from
incandescent bulbs, CFLs etc..) be used to generate electricity?

Of course - ever used a solar-powered calculator indoors?
( FWIW, outside India 'question' is more appropriate than 'doubt'. )
