I have been using Corel Draw 3 revision B for about two years and recently
I have started getting this error:

Condition #1001-WALIO2-0787
A problem occurred accessing memeory.

This only occurs when I am saving or an auto-backup is being done. When
it does happen I am no longer able to save what I am working on and lose
all changes I have made since the last successful save. I realise that
the message also says to contact Corel Draw technical support, but I can't
afford the international call from Australia, and I am generally not
working on my computer during North American business hours anyway.

If anyone can enlighten me as to what may be casuing this error, and what
I can do about it, I would be most appreciative.

If it makes any difference I am running Corel Draw on a 486dx33 with 4Mb
RAM.

Thanks,

Simon

I'd monitor my system resources carefully. It sounds like you may be
running dangerously low on resources when this error occurs. Are you
running any other applications at the same time as Corel? Are you
running Corel after any apps that don't clean up after themselves and
return resources to Windows?

I'd monitor free resources (Program Manager-Help-About Program Manager)
before running Corel Draw and during my Corel Draw session. If they
drop below 50% or so, you may be in for problems. At 20%, on most
systems, a crash is imminent.

With 4MB, you don't have much memory to work with. Have you considered
upgrading to 8MB? You'll notice a significant increase in performance.

Another thing to look at is disk space. Check the TEMP variable in your
AUTOEXEC.BAT and see wher it is pointing. Check that directory and see if
you have any .TMP files, especially those with 0 byte length.

I've run into the same problem, particularly with Trace, and I'd say that it'
s a bug. I have oodles of swap-file left and the system resources are over
50% left when it crashes... I wish that Corel would make available an
explanation for these cryptic messages somewhere.
