Food stamps, federal pensions face GOP cuts

http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5iyt7CgNdD8su5Vx2c_o1THKPdTuA?docId=1d776af428ec4afc9dab0d6221f042e1

Republicans controlling the House are targeting food stamps, federal
employee pensions, tax breaks for illegal immigrants and subsidies
under President Barack Obama's health care law in a multifaceted drive
to swap cuts to domestic programs for big Pentagon cuts scheduled next
year.

The cuts are mostly familiar, though a plan to cut food stamps goes
well beyond a bipartisan proposal drafted last year.

Wednesday's measure before the Agriculture panel would reduce the food
stamp monthly benefit for a family of four by almost $60, repealing
increases that were enacted three years ago as part of Obama's
economic stimulus. The changes would also force up to 3 million people
out of the program by tightening eligibility rules, the administration
estimates.

The Republican party might have just lost many moderate Republicans.

With the economy the way it is they want more hunger in America

I'm sure they will. Now, will the GOP agree to the $50 billion in

Not likely. I think the Democrats don't really care about the
poor.

They should go after government waste in all Depts before hurting
people like this. Before we hurt our own people cut all aid to
government that don't like us anyway.

Wonder how much we could save if we just got rid of the waste.
Starting with Congress.

He also makes some interesting points. Education is the key.
People on welfare have no excuse not to get their kids educated. Bad
patenting is also a big problem as we have seen here a certain type
teaches their kids they are owed.

Put able bodied welfare recipients to work cleaning the roads and Sec
8 communities.

Yet with many people out of work and no jobs to be had. I believe
this is the wrong time to just cut people off.

We can just reduce waste would help much. Like no more $800,000
parties.

We could pull out of Afghanistan and cut all aid. Cut all aid to
every country that hates us.

Wonder what that would save?

That would really do good how? It is done and over and would
actually cost money we don't have. Lets worry about the now and
future. BTW the above stand we should go after government waste in

Well you never served so don't know what war and death are like.

Like Iraq if we stay of leave has little meaning in the end. We
could have pulled out of Iraq years ago and I believe had much the
same result.

Not sure what influence you think Afghanistan is getting us. Care
to let us in on it?

Is and did make weapons companies rich. Other than that don't know.

Just Bush, Cheney and the weapons suppliers. Well also Blackwater
and Haliburton. So a few thousand solders die as long as Wall Street
makes a profit. More solders where they came from.

Yeah, but the areas where the waste is worst is sacred to the GOP: the
military. There's more waste there than in the rest of the budget
combined.

See again you focus on politics without thinking of the big
picture. Yes there is waste in the DOD and yet there is waste in all
other Depts too.

To fix this nation we need to look beyond politics every now and
then.

We need to look at all depts for waste.

I think you will find both parties had a hand in that or do you

Food stamps? Administrative costs are less than 1%. Not going to find
much waste there.

But you will find families who are trying to live on $4.50 a day per
person for food getting that cut back to $3.80 a day per person so
billionaires can continue to enjoy the lowest taxes in the developed
world. You turn a blind eye to the fact that tens of billions on utterly
useless weapons systems that the Pentagon doesn't even want. You don't
mind that over $30 billion is allocated for nuclear weapons because,
fuck, you know, 8,500 nukes aren't enough when you have to defend
yourself from Afghanistan.

Why don't you just open death camps and start gassing the poor? It's a
lot cleaner than what the Republicans have in mind.

You see you just want to fight with people. You will find that if
we were to cut the waste in other areas we would not want or need to
cut food stamps. That is the point find the waste in other areas and
not cut any food stamps.

HEre this was my reply to the article

""The Republican party might have just lost many moderate Republicans.

With the economy the way it is they want more hunger in America""

So stop just attacking the center right and think of the good of
the country. With the economy the way it is this is not a program to
cut.

If they need to cut spending look for waste in all depts.

Well haven't read it. I do not support cutting food stamps. That

pensions.

I just wonder how failure to pass a budget will force us to default on
our national debt, but have no effect on federal employee office parties.

Granted, $820,000 is not really a lot of money in the context of a $5
trillion annual budget, but it is far more than many people --
especially some of our left-wing trolls -- will earn in a lifetime. But
they don't care, since they collect more in social services than they
pay in taxes. Perhaps we should ask Zepp which one of his precious
social programs we should cut by $820k so GSA employees can receive
$820k of iPads as rewards for their hard work.

When Chairman Obama promised that the trillion dollar "stimulus" would
be spent on "shovel-ready" projects, I didn't think that iPads had
anything to do with shovels. Steve Jobs was a big contributor to
Chairman Obama's Democrat Party. Hmmm...

Grant got drafted and returned from service as a switchboard operator in the
navy so disillusioned and embittered that he became an anti-American and a
traitor.

He even wanted the country to lose the war in Iraq for crass democrat
political gain without regard for the good of the country

The elderly are the nation's wealthiest demographic and you are promoting

causing a financial crisis that nearly destroyed the country, you fucking
Sambo.

"In what could be a repeat of the easy-lending cycle that led to the housing

The republicans gave us the economy of the nineties which helped the poor
immensely while their welfare policies have all but destroyed the poor. When
he talks of helping the poor he means by giving them fish to keep them down
on the DNC plantation rather than teaching them how to fish. His mindset is
that of a national beggar and child that wants to be taken care and his
liberty be damned. It's a slave mentality.
