Just a little post to say... usenet still works!

Hmm... if gen-x is the "forgotten generation" does that make
usenet the "forgotten 'interweb'"

I don't see whats so superior about facebook, myspace or any of the
online forums.

Except for the clunky web browser (vs the lean, fast Usenet reader) and the
browser based "input boxes" (vs a feature-rich, lean text editor) whats so
great about web based forums?

Is it the fact that text-based Usenet doesn't have those oh-so colorful
advertisements?

Perhaps it is because an online forum doesn't have a .newsrc file or support
icky threading the way these antiquated usenet readers do?

And as far as myspace/facebook ...

What was so horribly wrong with "finger"?

<sigh>..

Think I'll fire up the modem and see if any BBS's are still operating. :-)
