Life in your 30s can be summed up this way - imagine being a high
school principal who wakes up in cold sweats every night. The reason -
he remembers one kid who killed himself and the principal feels
responsible, 'cause he wasn't more observant. The guy keeps losing
jobs now, because he comes off as a serious jackass. But he can't help
himself - he's afraid if he doesn't micromanage his students, one of
them will again kill him or herself seemingly without notice or
reason. That's life in your 30s - you've been hurt enough that you
rely on your past experiences to try to guide your way. Unfortunately,
sometimes, you only manage to make things worse in the process because
the past is the past and the present is the present and never the
twain shall meet.
