New Tel Aviv bar bans IDF soldiers in uniform, settlement products
By Hagai Matar, City Mouse
A new vegan bar opened last week in Tel Aviv that bans Israel Defense
Forces soldiers in uniform and boycotts products made in West Bank
settlements.
The Rogatka - "slingshot" - bar was opened by an "anarchist collective"
who once ran the Salon Mazal bar; it is located on Yitzhak Sadeh street
in central Tel Aviv.
The new ideologically-devoted bar will not seek to make a profit, and
the founders say they hope it will bring together left-wing activists,
environmentalists, and other fellow travelers, under the banner of cheap
drinks and fair trade products.
The bar's ban on soldiers in uniform and the carrying of weapons, along
with its boycott on products made in the settlements, derive from what
employees see as the connection between all forms of oppression, from
the slaughter of animals to sexism to occupation.
"We can't hold views against discrimination and oppression, while at the
same time support the infrastructure that exploits human beings and
other animals," said Adi Vinter, one of the bar's founders.
"We wanted to show it's possible and even worthwhile to live
differently," Vinter added.

Skipper: Professor, will you tell these people who is
in charge on this island?
Professor: Why, no one.
Skipper: No one?
Thurston Howell III: No one? Good heavens, this is anarchy!

Please pass it along. Keep up the good work!

Keep looking. It's just below the article on how we need to deport
these filthy Mexican parasitic leeches (i.e. Illegal Aliens).
I still cannot find it. There's just a lot of stupid racist bullshit.
I suggest you move to South L.A. and immerse yourself in the
"glorious" "culture" of hispanics. Deal with their gangs, crime,
filth, littering, graffiti, etc. Make sure you send your children to
the local school, you know, the school where 60% of the kids don't
speak English. You know, the school which has the lowest perfomance
results in all of L.A. County.
What?????? You mean you're not willing to do that? Oh I see. You're
just yet another phony liberal who preaches the "joys of diversity"
but refuses to actually immerse yourself in it. I see.
It's unfortunate that such intemperate and unkind language (the par
for Usenet, unfortunately) should blind us to our common interests.
Dan, you've published articles promoting the self-determination of
indigenous peoples of South America against the incursion of the
Mestizo-led state and multinational corporations. Jim, you've
published articles about Europeans and European-Americans wanting
their freedom from the billionaire and largely Zionist elite. And
you've both published articles looking with favor on
self-determination for Palestinians.
(Self-determination for Euro-Americans is not necessarily "racism,"
though people do tend to say and do extreme and angry things when
their land is being invaded. Probably the worst thing they do is
give allegiance to a System that they falsely believe is "theirs.")
My speculation is that both of you gentlemen (and I've appreciated
both of your efforts in publishing information the System doesn't
want us to know about) would look with favor on a new paradigm for
human society based on self-determination for all peoples -- and an
end to inherently oppressive multinational empires and the overt and
hidden elites that rule them.
I created the Maxim of Self--Determination to exemplify that hope:
"Every people that considers itself to _be_ a people should, to the
maximum extent possible, live under its own government."
Critiques are welcome. But those of us who want more local control,
kinship-based societies, and an end to the Evil Empires, should try
to understand one another.
With all good wishes,
Kevin Alfred Strom.

This is totally untrue: I oppose all racism, regardless of the group it
is directed at. What I want is total self-determination for all
*individuals* (*not* "peoples"), regardless of race, ethnicity, etc. I
don't see anti-white racism as any better than any other sort. I *would*
like to reduce ractists, of any color, to insignificance.
Though I have a strong independent and libertarian streak in my
personality, I do recognize that we're a social species.
Self-determination for most individuals includes belonging -- and
very much _wanting_ to belong -- to a social structure of their own
choosing. Almost always, this means a tribe, or a kinship-based nation.
That's the way the Amazonian peoples and Peruvian tribesmen you've
supported through your postings want to live. I support them in that
aspiration, too.
That's the way almost all people want to live, and should be allowed
to live -- including people of European descent. (And, in case
you're wondering, I support the right of the individual to secede
from the society he's been living in, too, and choose another
society, an individual path, or an entirely new path that no one has
thought of before. A Lincolnesque "Union" of multinational scope,
from which no one can ever secede or escape, sounds like Hell on
Earth to me.)
It's not racial hate to want to live among your own people. It's not
racial hate to have a kinship-based society. It's not racial hate to
want your people to continue to exist. All those things are utterly
natural. They tend also to preserve human biodiversity, and thwart
globalism and homogenization.
With every good wish,
James
I don't live in California. And if you're so keen on moving, why don't
you make a time machine and go to Nazi Germany?
You claim that you support the struggle of groups like the Zapatistas
against illegitimate government power. But at the same time, you support
immigration laws as they currently exist, even thought the same
illegitimate governments have arbitrarily created borders and
immigration laws. To support your position, you need to prove the
legitimacy of these borders and immigration laws. Good luck.
You're a lier. You were an organizer of the anarchist conference in
Santa Monica. And of course, you attended it.
Move to South L.A. you wimp. What's wrong, are you afraid of actually
living amongst hispanics and blacks????
Every country has borders and immigration laws. Every country has the
right to enforce it's borders and control who can and can't come in.
Mexico, USA, Canada, France, Honduras, etc. All nations have this
right. What nations don't have the right to do is ripoff their own
people which is what has happened in Mexico for the past 90 years.
The concept of borders and nation-states are legitimate concepts. You
are a trotskyite communist in that you don't believe in borders.
Naive people like you are useful idiots of globalist corporatists who
practice neo-liberalism (ie. FTAA, WTO, CAFTA, etc) and also want to
erase borders in order to setup global gov't. That's why
international corporatist NGO's like the Ford Foundation fund radical
leftists causes, ie. because you help them dissolve borders. Wake up!
Sorry, but I neither organized nor attended that conference. And I
haven't set foot in California for over twenty years.
Would you be willing to move into an ALL Black neighborhood?
Well, would _you_ be willing to move into a neighborhood
that was 100% populated by human beings?
Seems more like an Orc, eh what?
I'm white and I strongly prefer to live in an all white neighborhood.
Just as blacks prefer to live in all black neighbhorhoods. Same with
hispanics. Same with Asians. Etc etc etc.
How can you pretend to speak for anyone but yourself as an individual?
The place that I liked living best was a college town with a lot of
international students. And my own experience with other people, and
their choice of home, strongly suggests that only a small minority of
any group prefer to live in an all-anything neighborhood.
