I had a discussion yesterday with a phone rep and she said she did not see
where direct deposit was set up for SSDI. Today this showed up on my account
as a pending transaction with 96.40 in funds. Why do you get so many
different answers from SS over the phone and at the office. It seems to
depend on their mood or something.

What has me worried is my bank told me my kids check
or if it was a direct deposit had to be worded correctly or it would kick
back out of the system regardless of the routing # and checking acct # ?

This is begining to stress me out because I cannot get a straight answer.

Did you set up direct deposit or not? You dont say. They evidently
have your banking information. The $96.40 sounds like some kind of
refund.

Yes I set it up over the phone for DD about 2 weeks ago after I had a
discussion at the SS office that told me I had to set it up from the bank
"the bank has a form they fill out" BS So I called SS when I got home and
set it up. So after I called the other day I was told that DD was not set up
and if I wanted to set it up I could do so for Jan payment. Then the deposit
shows up. It is earemarked as Social Security. I still have not recieved a
benefits statement. The rep also said she did not see anything about my
dependents. Do I need to set up a DD for my dependents on top of my checking
acct?

The bank says they need the specific wording on how the electronic transfer
is made :children of for example. I am assuming that is on the benefits
letter?

That is odd.

All I have ever had to do for any deposit was give the depositor the bank
information. Can't recall having to tell the bank anything for deposits
(or withdrawls). I can't see why the bank would need to know what the
wording is, they will get a deposit (electronic transfer) for a specific
account and they will put it in that account. Should be all that is done.
No different than if you use the ATM, really.

Yes, each person gets their own check or deposit.

I set my direct deposit up on-line if I remember right. Right on
SSA.Gov

Almost 100% positive I did it that way.

The $96.40 refund sounds like a Medicare refund of some kind.

Sorry, answered you before I read this. Ya, sounded like a Medicare
refund (why, I have no idea..). Sounds like you were just approved so
you wouldnt qualify for medicare but perhaps they witheld it from a
check for some reason.
