91 Indy 650, carbs
Stock HP = 97.3 @ 92dB @ 8000 RPM
DG pipes HP = 110.4 @ 100dB @ 9000 RPM
No idea which version the DG pipes are
The DG's were the worst of the bunch in this test
13 HP may be worth it if you can get a reasonable price and don't mind
running the engine at 9000 RPM and have a good set of ear plugs.
Specifically, these are 89' pipes and I'd like to use them on my
90'650. DG sells two different models, one is for 88'-89' and the
others for 90'-92'. The only difference according to DG, is the
exhaust outlet port position in the belly pan.
Apparently there are no physical differences between an 89' and 90'
motor. This means they both make the same HP.
Does anyone have any further comments?????
thanks

Thanks for the info Chuck!!
Do you know if the 91' has the 02 style (RXL) heads??? These have
bigger intake and exhaust ports. If they stayed with the same pipe
design from the older 89-90 years this may explain the lower HP. My
sled still has the older 01 style head design. I don't know when
they started installing the newer ones.
As a side note, if anyones interested in the pipe shootout info for
the 89 or 90 650's ... I have it. I just don't have anything on DG.
