Oh, I wish this newsgroup wasn't completely dead. I read a fascinating
article a few weeks ago about what a disaster Flat Sequencing Strategy
has been, artificially forcing flat volumes up at plants, eliminating
flat casing at the carrier's case, and raising prices for mailers.
The thing is that major magazine and catalog printers in the private sector
found a way to co-mingle flats from different mailers before presenting
them to the post office, which turns out to be far more efficient than
what the post office's billions in new equiment has been. There's just
no way for the post office to justify the spending.
