I have a friend who can get me a good deal on some Dunhill lighters.
Normally I wouldnt consider them as they are too expensive but this might
be a reasonable deal. Anyway, is there such a thing as a dunhill pipe
lighter? Ive read somewhere where you can change that little valve so
that the flame comes out at a 90 degree angle. Does anybody know anything
about this? Does it need to be "professionally" retrofitted or can I just
buy it and do it myself?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes there is such a thing made by Dunhill - most common are the Rollagas type
lighters. Quite a nice lighter, up there in quality though still behind the
Duponts. The lighters have a side-angled flame which works quite well. In my
opinion, don't tinker with them, the lighter adjustments are very sensitive,
trust me. If you can get one at a great price, i would go for it though.

I have a Dunhill Unique lighter . I just got it back from ARS to have
the jet replaced with a pipe jet . On older lighters they need to
service the valves and fittings when this is done so have it done
professionally . A pipe refit on a new lighter is about $20 , and a
total refit runs about $60 . For more information contact

Having said all that , if I had it to do over again I'd have bought an
Old Boy lighter as they are just as nice and reliable as the Dunhill
and about 1/3 to 1/2 as much $$ .

Hi Paul,
I got a Unique a few years ago and it seems to be a better lighter
than the rollagas . Although I am pretty hard on the lighters the
unique is holding out real well. I have had my Rollagas serviced about
half a dozen times. I ended up going back to the regular jet on the
rollagas because the valve would leak off slowly. I have had the RG
about 20 years although so I guess that is ok. I have had a DuPont for
as long with as much wear with no service and no leaks but the flint
wheel is getting weak but still works.
Cheers,

I too have a rollagas and like yours mine leaks dry within a week . I
seldom use it . I love my Unique and have had it for about 6 years now
with absolutely no problems . Now that I have the pipe jet on it it is
a perfect lighter ! I really don't know how I went for all those years
without the pipe jet though , it really makes a big difference .
