Yes, my tobacco cellar is actually in my cellar. There is a 4 x 7
foot closet, complete with shelves, located in almost the precise
center of my basement. Other than as an occasional cat jail, I never
found much use for the space until I decided to start stockpiling pipe
tobacco.
Currently, I have about 40 pounds of bulks in wax-sealed jars and
about 150 tins. I'm ready for the apocalypse! (Well, maybe <g>)

Hey Robert. Nice post, this one should bring some interesting answers.
I keep my tobacco in an ice chest in my closet. It's not a very big
collection (yet) but I'm about to run out of room in the ice chest and
will probably have to start using the shelves. I have another ice chest
in there I've converted into a cigar humidor. I lined the walls with
Spanish cedar and made some little shelves. They both do their jobs
quite well. I love opening the closet...the aroma is terrific!

Similar to Robert I have a finished basement with a closet directly
under the stariwell. The area location remains a constant and cool
temperature; ( It where I also cellar my wine). For tobaccos I have
the large Walmart plastic Tubs used for Christmas Ornaments and such.
My bulk tobaccos (approximately 27lbs are stored in a separate tub.
One tub for GLP tins only and the remaining two tubs of varied
manufacture.

My wife "gave" me an entire closet! This was quite a gift, as closets
are precious in our 1950's home. The shelves are almost full and
there are 2 large plastic bins on the floor. Organized properly, it
should be enough space.

Morning Robert:
I have about 1/3 of my large closet devoted to storing my tobacco,
which is 95%
in tins. I currently have almost 64 pounds stored in the "cellar",
which can be viewed

Hi Robert,
Mine is stored in a home made cabinet that I once used for stereo
equipment. Not fancy, but it does the job. Space is very limited for
me, so upright storage is a must.

I keep most of my tobacco cellered in the basement. I have the tins in two
of those boxes that copier paper come in and laying about on a three shelf
floor unit behind my dry bar. I also have a large file drawer at work full
of tins. That way, if th stuff hits the fan, wheter at home or at work, I
have tobacco! I think I have 10 lbs at work and around 25 at home.

Mine is not as extensive. I've got a kazillion(Funn Dictionary)
plastic pouches along with tins and large bags. I recently got a large
leather covered storage ottoman that I have bags and two cigar boxes w/
wind caps ,nails, lighters, etc in and bags of pipe cleaners that sits
under my legs in the living room. In the basement I 'borrowed' a
library card catalog file or apothecary drawer type thingee that I
aplphanumericasize (Funn Dictionary again..sorry) my pouches. Gotta
man cave storage hiding roon upstairs with a folding bkcase of tins
racks etc.In same room I turned an old entertainment cabinet into a
pipe cabinet and shelves for tobaccos.
Got 'em allover da place. Gotta pantry in the basement that keeps
yelling at me, "Get some mason jars in all sizes & ditch the plastic,
Funnster!!!!" Then I gotta get labels. Oh!!... in the same upstairs rm
I got a square wicker basket w/my Altadis Contractors tobacco bags
&some other Aros.

WOW...that's all I have to say. Wow...

1895 house. Damp basement, built in shelves (in when bought house in
'84), always damp, actually TOO damp, baccy must be dried. Seeing that
I only keep open 2oz at a time (1oz each or so of latakia & non-
latakia), the rest in the original tins, if 8oz etc. Never dries out.
At present, 18lbs in both tins/bulk.

Hi Robert,
I cellar my tobaccos, both in the original tins and bulks in 8 ounce
Ball jelly jars, in my cellar / basement in two four-drawer second
hand file cabinets. I keep the BALL jars in their original boxes,
stacked two-high in each drawer. This allows for easy and quick
removal en masse'. One of the eight drawers is reserved for pipe
paraphernalia: pipe cleaners, lighters, lighter fluid, matches,
humidifier disc, Q-tips, etc. Easily accessed, vertical storage void
of light (for the jars) is desirable and the cabinets can be readily
moved with my hand truck. Having said that, I haven't moved either of
the file cabinets an inch since I began loading them with tobacco.

My cellar is none-too-classy: just cardboard boxes on the top shelf in
my workshop. I've got about 20 pounds mostly in tins, but I've been
doing more jarring lately. I am in the midst of designing a display/
storage unit that should house about 30 pipes and an equivalent
poundage of tobac.
