Being keen on aromatics, as well as English and the heavier blends, a while
back, I tried one of the Aromatic Samplers from the Bufflehead Shop in Shawnee
Mission, Kansas
(http://www.webcon.com/bufflehead/). I posted what were very favorable reviews
at that time.

About a month ago I ordered five more tins, three aromatics and two Virginia
style cakes. Now that I've had a chance to sample them all several times, I
remain a very satisfied customer. Service and tobaccos are both excellent.

So, I thought I'd drop a line and recommend them again.

David Windsor, the proprietor, has his recipes made for him by McClell (David,
if you're out there, please jump in with any corrections if I've got this
wrong.) These are uniformly well made, as you might expect.

This last order included :

The two cakes were:

Wood Duck - A Scottish cake made up of Orange and lemon Carolinas. The
packagaing claims that this is a "light bodied tobacco for every occasion."
This is accurate. It's a light smoke with airy textures and a faint peppery
aspect to it that is very refreshing. A good all day tobacco, imo.

Ring Necked Duck - The tin aroma alone is enough. A deep rich, medium Virginia.
A "sitting on the porch pondering the Universe, while smoking a large pipe"
smoke. I did just that the other evening: loaded up my Tinsky Magic Apple, and
just relaxed for an hour on the porch. The flavors were so good, though, I
really didn't ponder the Universe too much.

The aromatics included:

Cinnamon Teal - Virginias and Black Cavendish cased with chocolate and coffee.
This was one of my favorites from my last order. It's rich and smooth, and the
flavors, while distinctly present, do not overwhelm the tobacco.

Harlequin Duck - Burley and Black Cavendish with a hazelnit top-note. What can
I say? My wife says this is the nicest smelling tobacco I've ever lit up. It's
one of a select few she'll permit inside, and it's a lovely smoke.

Black Bellied Tree Duck - Virginias flavored with butterscotch. Just filled my
pouch for the day with it. I'm breaking in a new Les Wood Ferndown poker with
this one.

Anyway, hope this is of interest to some of you. I highly recommend that you
drop in at the site and check it out.

And I hope that this review finds you enjoyng a bowl of something fine.

Still cooking in the Texas heat,
Magic.

I have, also, been smoking some samples from The Bufflehead. I have
American Widgeon, English Widgeon and Emperor Goose. The Widgeons are
excellent, mature Virginias and an English mix. I haven't tried Emperor
Goose yet, a full English, but I look for it to be as good as the
others. I heartily recommend them.
Just a satisfied customer,
Robert Peterson

Definitely give it a try! David put a sample of the Emperor Goose in my first
order, and it's terrific. Hearty, rich and robust. Great outdoor smoke.

All the best,
Magic.

This is very sound advice. A GREAT tobac, and one of the Bufflehead blends that
is not to be missed.
