Does anyone have any idea what fuel will work to fill one of these lighters? I've got a few different cans of butane and none of them fit right. It's a Swiss lighter and apparently they stopped shipping to the US. I found a German etailer, but they wouldn't ship the Caran d'Ache brand of butane overseas and I can't find anyone that stocks it in the US. If anyone owns one of these lighters and can recommend a brand of fuel with the right size nozzle to fill one of these lighters, that'd be awesome...otherwise I've got a pretty expensive paper weight staring at me. Thanks!

I have a couple of ideas.

First, Ronson butane has a fill tip that is supposed to stretch
to fit most fill nozzles. Have you tried getting the thing in
place, and properly straight, and then just pushing harder to
force the Ronson tip over the fill nozzle?

It should work easier the second and subsequent times.

Second, Years ago I picked up a large-ish can of butane, Zeus I
think but might ne wrong on that, that had a cap with six
adapters in it. I use the adapter that fits the Old Boy to bleed
it (and the Thunderbird insert) but would expect one of the six
adapters would likely work to fill most any butane lightger.

Cheers!

Hi Jim, I got a can of Ronson. It seems like it has stretched a little but I'm still getting a lot more on me and the outside of the lighter. I managed to get just enough inside to get a whisp of a flame but that's it so far. I'll try to keep working on that nozzle but it doesn't seem to be giving fast enough considering the rate at which the fuel is dispensing from the can. I have seen cans of butane with adapter nozzles in the caps...think I'll try to find one of them next.

Mark, I found that site too (Google doesn't turn up much)...they seem to be the only domestic place that sells this brand of fuel and flints, but it says they are out of stock. I sent them an email and left them a voicemail earlier in the week asking if they'd be restocking these items, but no response yet. I do appreciate you taking the time to search and post that link though.

Thanks, Ron

Hey Ron....if all else fails I suggest taking the lighter to a good
local jewler....perhaps they could convert it to something easy or even
make you an adapter...they are like machinists but with little tiny
tools...lol....the lighters I saw on that sight were well over
$1000....so it would be nice to fill and use....another shot in the dark
would be to give Mike Gluckler at BriarBlues.com a e-mail....I know he
is up on fine lighters...pens...watches....good luck....:)

Went to a small local cigar shop and they had Xikar butane with a ring of adapters like Jim mentioned earlier. One of them did a pretty decent job of filling it...not perfect, but the best job so far. I also contacted ARS (lighter repair company) and they said Colibri butane actually fits (as does Dunhill blue flints...in case anyone else is reading and is interested). The local cigar guy and Walgreens didn't have Colibri butane but I'll pick up a can of that the next time I can find one. Thanks again guys for all the help! Ron

I use a modified dunhill one used a dremel to make it fit also remember to put the lighter in the fried or freezer for a while before you fill it that way the gas goes down into it . the can should be warm and the lighter cold . the can can be warmed in your pocket .
