The world seems suddenly a much colder place.
Ted.
I'm so sorry to hear this. Give her my condolences.

Thanks Ted. Sykes and I got word a bit ago and I think this is what a
bull must feel like, a millisecond after the hammer makes contact.
June's an unbelievably sweet person, someone who always seemed to find
time to care for others. People fall into and out of our lives all of
the time. I think that a great part of the tragedy is that rarely
occurs to us to put out that hand, until we find out that it is no
longer there.

Good idea, Mouse. I will, too. -bw
My heart felt condolences to all that knew and loved her. The world is
a much lesser place without her. I only knew her briefly and that was
several years ago. One of the few "Sister of the Briar". In honor of
her, a bowl of Firedance Flake. How many people get to have a tobacco
named after them. She was a real class act.

That's very bad news. We hadn't heard from her in a long time, and I was
very concerned. I'm glad that her suffering is over, but I'll miss her
an awfully lot. Be strong Li, she was a great person, and will be missed
by many here, and in the pipe community in general. I'm so very sorry
for your loss.
Charles
June's was a friendly spirit that brightened up all the posts she
contributed to.
Rick
What a tremendous loss to the pipe community. A bowl of vintage Dunhill
Nightcap in a new Castello in tribute.

I suspect that June is doing alright up there, waiting on her buddies to
join her. Maybe she will run across Sailorman Jack and my brother Terry.

How very, very sad. We all are much better for having known a very
gracious, kind hearted lady and she will be sorely missed.

I se3cond your emotion.
I had the distinct pleasure of meeting June several times at CORPS. She was
always cheerful in spite of her handicaps.
One of my fondest memories is the privelege of going to lunch with her ande
Li. The highlight of that years show.
she will be sorely missed. Heave is richer, ande it is our loss.

It was Li letting me know that June had passed.
I remembered how June had called everyone "honey" and how she took time
to check out everyone's wares and give a compliment, even when she had
no funds. She was always so upbeat, no matter what the circumstance.
Pipers are unique and I doubt June will ever have somebody that even
comes close to her approach to life.

This is truly sad, sad news.
I remember the first time I met June. I was working at John B. Hayes
and Matt Hayes told me that June had called to say she was coming in
to look at some pipes. I asked "Who's June?" Matt just chuckled and
said "you will know her as soon as you meet her. She likes freehands
so have some ready." About an hour later in walks this woman that
carried herself like she owned the place and people just seemed to
gravitate towards her. I pulled out some freehands and after the
third pipe she said "Honey, let's look at some of the good stuff
now". I was perplexed. How could this blind woman tell me that the
pipes I had pulled were not "good'. (I was about to get an education
that has stuck with me since:)
We went through every freehand that we had in the store. She looked
at some pipes that I had previously did not think much about. The
were big, and up to that time, I had thought cumbersome. June was
able to point out things on these pipes that most people would
overlook. From every curve in the pipe and how it all ran together to
make a beautiful piece of artwork, to how the chamber depth would
effect the smoke. After two plus hours with June, I felt like I had
known her for years. June had that effect on you. There was no way
that you could spend time with her and not feel like you had been
friends your whole life. She was a very straight forward, no BS,
lovable soul.
A couple of years later, when I had become involved with CAPS and we
were planning our 2002 show, June came to a meeting and said that she
wanted to be part of the show. I asked her what she had in mind? She
did not hesitate for one moment and said, "I will be the
entertainment" For those of you that came to the 2002 CAPS DC show,
you will remember June in the corner of the showroom playing songs on
her Keyboard. As far as I know, we were the first pipe show to
actually have live entertainment in the showroom during the show.
June did this out of the kindness of her heart. She never asked for
anything in return, that was her nature. She would always find time
to give of herself.
After I moved to Richmond, I only got to see June when she would come
down to the CORPS show. We didn't get to spend a whole lot of time
together, usually just a couple of minutes here and there and a quick
catch-up session. But even those few minutes were like a breath of
fresh air for me. Just a couple of minutes with June, could leave you
with your head held up high feeling like you could take on the world!!
Li, I can't begin to imagine what you are going through right now.
When I saw you two together, I think that when GOD described marriage
as two people becoming one, He must have had you two in mind. I can't
think of two people joined as one more than You and June. All I can
say is that I am very, very sorry for your loss.
I think that June's passing reminds us all to appreciate what we have
now, because it could be gone in the blink of an eye.
I'll still go to the CORPS shows as they come and go, and still enjoy
seeing people that I have met over the years, but it will not be the
same. There will forever be a part of the show that is missing and
that I will never be able to get back. Going forward I will have to
rely on memories to gain inspiration and the only solice is that
Heaven is a better place now that June has arrived.
I would normally have a bowl in "honor", but this one just cuts too
deep. I don't think that I will be smoking anything for a while as I
try to take this all in.
June....God's speed on your journey Honey!!!! Thank you for all that
you have done here and bless you for the lives that you have touched.
Randy
Oh my. I am crying tears of sorrow and remembrance. Li, know how much
she lightened our days.
