Yeouch! I placed my Zippo lighter in my back pocket. The lighter fluid leaked out, and now my thighs and butt are burning like fire! lol

Anyone else have a lighter fluid leak, before? I can't be the only one.

Decades ago, when I was smoking non-filter Camels.

My recommendation is to buy a couple of Thunderbird butane inserts, by
Vector. They are about $15 each, and can be used in the Zippo case or
anything of the same size.

I use the Colibri flints, despite Vector's claim that Zippo flints are
fine. The tube the flint is inserted in can (eventually will) loosen up
and slide up and down.

If it goes too high, run a thin knife blade between the striker wheel and
the flint-tube and work it back down a bit to get more clearance for the
flint.

If it goes too low and the flint is going off at an angle, try to push
the insert deeper into the case. If that does not fix it, pull the
insert out, unscrew the screw that holds the flint and spring in a bit,
and push it upward or just put it back in the case and push down hard.

Use of the spring adjustment screw and position in the case to keep the
flint tube in proper position is a wrinkle I never noticed on any other
butane lighter, but you can make it work.

If you do switch to butane, put the insert in the freezer compartment of
the refrigerator for 15 minutes or so before filling, to maximize the
fill. Butane vaporizes at 31 degrees F, so cooling in the freezer will
turn almost all to liquid and minimize backpressure.

Bleeding the butane vapor in the tank by pushing down the value with
something that will not damage it (maybe a wood match?) will cool the
butane down and provide a similar effect, but not as effectively.

Cheers!

Don't overfill it.
