Hi All,

Just for fun here's a survey. Please answer the following honestly.
If you are smoking _RIGHT NOW_ what is it. Pipe, cigar, cigarette,
brand, make. Please don't say what you "wish" it was, just a simple
line to say what it is.

I'll start:

Balkan 759 in an Edward's Benton Apple

This could be good.

Happy Smoking.

Hello Bob,

I'm smoking a sample I got from Peter Heinrich's nr. 270, in a Cellini
Light rhodesian. According to the info it's an all Virginia tobacco
with sangrita flacour. I find it not only smelling like potpourri, it
also tastes like it. And wet too. Not likely to become a favourite.
Still, I can always hang it in the toilet.

Regards,
Eric

Not smoking right now, but just recently finished C&D's Spice Nut
in a "Smokemaster". (got it from a mail order company that I don't
think is in business anymore, relatively inexpensive but a good
smokin' pipe nonetheless) A general description of the pipe is--
full bent billiard with rustic finish. Originally this pipe had a stem
with a gimmick: you fold a pipe cleaner in the middle and insert
it into the stem; it used the pipe cleaner like a filter. The original
stem has since been replaced with a regular stem.

I'm smoking McClelland 2040 in a Carey pipe. Don't laugh, the Carey,
though not high class, is a pretty good smoker. I haven't tried them all
by any means but I would venture to say that the Carey system is one of the
better systems. I don't think the briar is too good a quality, wish I had
bought that Mark Tinsky Carey system pipe a few years ago they had featured
in their catalog. Anyway this particular Carey I received free as a
promotional they were doing so you can't beat that, unless you can show me
where to get a $5 Dunhill.

Smokin a Butz three quarter curve with homemade cigar/half&half mix. That
ole food processor really cuts that tobacco fine and makes a nice smoke.
One of these days I'm going to get real bold and try moving up to Capt.
Black or Cherry maybe. I tried mixing that half&half with Pine sawdust but
It smoked a bit hot. I even tried compost after I learned it was such good
stuff. Had to quit that cause my wife wouldn't let me smoke in the house
anymore. Heck, she wouldn't even let me in not smokin. Something about
dog dropping in that compost. Here I thought that it was all pre-digested
and almost like health food.

All that was after I realized that BUSS bedding didn't burn too even. Here
I had been trying to smoke that stuff for a couple of weeks when my son
said to me "Dad, whyn't ya try smokin it before them worms get put in
there. Be dryer, seems?" That made a difference but I didn't care for the
flavour that way.

But to answer yer question. I collected a bunch of ole cigar butts down
around Harry's bar? Well, after I collect about fifty or so, I brung em
out and ran em through the food processor. The results was a bit sodden so
I mixed in a couple of packets of half & half that belonged to my wife's
brother Bill? (He was killed in WWII) Needed to dry the mix out a bit. It
don't smoke good but I don't want to waste it. Might mix something else
with it to help it along but don't know just what that might be yet. Any
suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank ya an good day...

Well, Walt, you are a man after my own heart. Not only for your
selection of smoking mixtures (I also smoke H&H, but mine is horseshit
and old socks. Occasionally, I put in 3 day old underwear, but that
makes it too fiberous)) Mostly, I like your style. It has to be
known to the group that not all of us can afford Dunhill pipes that
run in the $2000 range or even to smoke Nightcap. My personal best
mixture is a corn cob aged over 50 years with a heavy packed dose of
rabbit tobacco that has just had a good moistening with dog piss.
Frankly after smoking this mixture for many years, I find that the
pedigree dogs do not flavor the rabbit tobacco enough to count so I
always go hunting for rabbit tobacco with a curr bitch that wandered
into my yard to drop her puppies.

I have had several questions about rabbit tobacco from the group. If
you know how to recognize it, it is still out there. But, if your
eyesight is sliding away like mine, it is better to take the dogs with
you. Since it stands straight up, they will find it.

Occasionally, I run some sassafrass through the blender with the RT to
change the flavor somewhat. It gives the RT a woody taste (like
Latakia would do for the more polished smoker) that is pleasant when
the sap is rising. The season will be right in about a month. Try
that, Walt, and your wife might let you in the house again.

Just got the Tilshead today, from Pulver's, it has the most magnificent straight

I assume the lone sand pit on the shank kept this from being a real Upshall...

But I don't care! $25, and a major bargain indeed!

Currently, I am smoking a blend from my local tobacconist he calls Essex
Hill. I believe it is a Lane Limited product, and I think it is a very
sweet and mild golden cavendish, cut fine. It tastes very nice, leaves a
room smelling wonderful, and smells beautiful in the pouch

The pipe is one of Finck's buy-it-on-clearance meerschaums. It is not a
great pipe but it's good enough to be in my low budget rotation.
