A smoker can submit multiple smokes to the competition as long as it
is before the cutoff time.

there is no weighing of tobacco, instead it is done by pipe chamber
dimensions with the standard Glenn Tinsky Pipe.

chamber diameter: 3/4 inch
chamber depth: 1 1/2 inches

Pipe must be filled to the top.

one charring light, one tamp and one relight...with a zippo, butane or
anything.

smoke till the smoke ends. No relights once the pipe has been tamped
and lit.

tamping is allowed blowing through the bit is allowed to clear
condensation or to keep the tobacco lit.

Please remember that this First Curl is for Burley.

Thurs, Burley
Friday, English
Sat, Flake,
Sun, Aromatic

Please post your Virginia blend smoking times on this thread from 9pm
edt Thursday 6/28 to 9pm edt Friday 6/29.

looks like the Burley event is going to be a ghost town. However, I
will play Eastwood or better yet that meershaum smoker in the good the
bad and the ugly...maybe I have my westerns confused..I know it was an
italian western...anywho I'll smoke a bowl while I am waiting for a
tumble weed to role by.

Hey GPH. Even if the smoking contest is a no-show, you've done a lot of
work putting it together, and that's commendable. It's folks like you
that give life to ASP.

Hope you're well,
Ian

My curling pipe order is in and once it arrives then I plan to
participate in future competitions (as long as I have the right
tobac)! Sorry I couldn't join in this one - I might have been able to
come in 2nd if I tried hard enough (and no one else entered).

Well, I went outside and smoked a bowl of LJ Heart Burley that I
flavored with a drop of John Powers Whiskey. It was delish as Rachel
Ray would say. My time for the smoke was 40:15. Thanks Ian and Wee
Willie for the kind comments...all I wanted to do was offer something
for Aspians. I will continue with the rest of the event if anyone
cares to drop in and smoke a bowl with me and watch the tumbleweeds
role through then all the merrier.

P.S.
This curling pipe really smokes LJ Heart Burley very well. I can even
detect the subltleness of the Whiskey even though I smoke mainly Black
raspberry in the pipe...I didn't detect and raspberry just good burley
and a smooth whiskey taste.

The Great Pawn Hunter <manus...@aol.com> exclaimed in
news:1183168370....@k79g2000hse.googlegroups.com:

Got home late, but just finished a bowl of Haunted Bookshop. 44:36.
Can't say that I'm now an HB fan. It's a nice rich flavor after it gets
halfway. I can see where Burley fans would like it, but not my thang
exactly.

This pipe seems to give out on me at 40 minutes or so. Great smoker
though. After a relight it just goes on and on.

I'll be in Calabasas for a Rugby tournament tomorrow so I'll probably be
late again. I guess I'm just a day off. I'll do the Flake tomorrow and
be early :)
