Just stopped off at a local pipe shop in Carmel, CA and bought some G.L.
Pease "Haddo's Delight".

Most of my remaining tobaccos are heavier smokes (Esoterica
Penzance/Margate, Dunhill 965, Macbaren Latakia blend...) and I was looking
for a lighter smoke.

Kurt,
Still check A.S.P. occasionally. That said, I quit my pipe smoking
hobby about 18 months ago. My new 'senior community' doesn't allow
smoking. Sh*t. Wifey said she was moving, and if I wanted to come, the
pipes had to go. Since I've been sleeping next to her for 55 years,
made the (tough) choice. Do miss the briars, but on the plus side,
sold most of 'em on Ebay, so my beloveds are still being enjoyed by
"someone.'

Most of my tobaccos are Gawith, from the UK, so I cannot help with
the lighter ones.

I check a.s.p. regularly, along with a couple of computer usenet
groups and a Japanese language group, but rarely find anything
here.

Cheers!

I pop in on occasion but there is rarely anything going on. Most of the
newsgroups I used to frequent as well as IRC channels, have pretty much
died now. I pretty much just smoke cigars now.

still lurk though had to quit pipes 18 months ago due to moving to a
non-smoking facility. Still miss it.
Remember, "What are you smoking now?" Threads?
Answer now would be "Not a f*ckin' thing!"

I check in from time to time.

Long-time pipe smoker, mostly house blends from Peretti's in Boston
now that Balkan Sobranie is no more. I should get in touch with
Leavitt & Pierce in Harvard Square as I like some of thier house
blends, too. Haven't actually been *in* Boston or Cambridge for 25
years.

True.

By the time someone receives your message, you will be
elsewhere, in time if nowhere else.

I just recovered from a bit more than 16 months of a video game
addiction. It was pretty intense. Finally pulled out of it. Focusing on
some projects.

We will get a break from rain this day, now that a pretty severe squall
line just passed through. I will be smoking my Peterson Elizabethan
Mixture on my Peterson during my PM walk - and may bring it with me to
the Moose at lunch.

I was looking at my ASP Zippo the other day and wondered if the group still existed, and did some checking and found you all. I haven't been here for probably 25 years for no particular reason that I can recall, other than I was mainly a lurker back then and forgot to lurk after a while. Rejoined today via Google groups, but not sure how active I will be.

Eternal-September.org has free Usenet access.

It has pretty good retention.

Concur on news.eternal-september.org.

There are a few of us that monitor a.s.p., but postings are rare.

By the way, 25 years ago I usually enjoyed Latakia-heavy blends like Pirate Kake in a Peterson pipe, and smoked it just about anywhere in Tokyo. These days I usually smoke while doing the dishes (under the kitchen exhaust fan) and I usually smoke Seven Seas in a cob. Radically different from before, but that ASP Zippo is still here.
