Gentlemen,

I'm looking for Perri pipes. If anyone knows a source, or has one (or several)
he'd like to sell, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't mind knowing this myself. Despite the fact that he taught me how
to make pipes, I've never seen any of his finished work. I can kind of get
a mental image based on the things he told me, but I'd still enjoy finding a
Perri pipe someday.
Happy smoking,
Trever

Gads Trev , I forgot to tell you . But since this came up I will post it
here . While junk shopping the other day I came across a pipe here in town
that had a hand signed "Perry Pipe '82 " on the shank . It was only fifteen
dollars but on inspection of it and noting the date I was dubious if it was
a PP pipe . It was not very well made and the grain was awful . I can point
you to it if you want to go poke it ...

I have four of Paul's pipes (one of the benefits of living in Los
Angeles is that he used to sell his pipes at our pipe club meetings).

I don't know of anyone who has ever chosen to get rid of a Perri pipe.
Severe financial pressure _might_ cause me to consider the idea; but
I'd probably just keep the pipes and declare bankruptcy, instead.

I'll be happy to show you the ones I've got, if you should ever be in
Los Angeles. Unfortunately, I understand that Paul now really has
(honestly and truly) retired and we'll shouldn't look for any more new
pipes from him. That's a major shame.

Nope, that wasn't one. It was by the Perry guy who sells pipes at the local
craft show. Em mentioned him yesterday, I believe. He sells all his pipes
for around $20-$30. He lives in Raleigh or nearby, I think. PP's name was
spelled "Perri". And, having seen lots of the Perry pipes close up, I don't
think the craftsmanship would be confused.

I should also add that the only time I've ever seen any of Paul Perri's
pipes for sale was in a Nikos Levin mailer. There were 2 in there priced at
$250-$350, which says a lot considering that most US pipemakers landed in
the $35 range as far as resale value went. All I can judge from are the
volumes of notes he sent me, but I'd imagine his work was pretty impressive
given the sort of things he would stress.

I thought as much , which is why I did not "risk" the fifteen dollars to buy
it . It really looked BAD and I was almost sure Paul did not make it .

Gentlemen, might I suggest you call 415 362 1405 and ask Marty
Pulvers, of Sherlock's Haven of San Francisco. This may be an
option. As far as paul's pipes go, I was lucky enough to meet him
at an L.A. Pipe Show a few years ago. Unfortunatley fo me I soent
all my cash at a previous table Paul ahd 2 full tables of
stunning pipes. Starting at $50.00 and up. At $50.00 they were
smooth and clean bowls, with fine interesting mixed but tight
grain.
