I scored some pipes on eBay last night. I was only watching for one, but
because the price was right I ended up winning five Georg Jensen pipes.

I understand that these are not high grade pipes, but wouldn't mind knowing
about their age or grading.

So, if you have any info or impressions about this brand, I would like to
hear from you.

I haven't recieved the pipes yet, but I put pictures of them over here:

I dated Cristina Jensen back in high school we got along ok but there was always something amiss. Then at my 20 year reunion I met Christopher Jenson and I understood the problem. <grin>

What I know of these is that

1) According to Per Georg Jensen himself:
> "The De Luxe quality were produced in the late sixies and until 1974."

2) And the Dania line:
> The Dania pipe you have bought is made in the period between 1972 and
> 1981,after which the Dania was discontinued. The shape you mention
> indicates that it is a bent pipe. The number 25 is the shape no. and

As for quality, it can vary somewhat, but a good Jensen is probably
one of the best deals you can make. I have good experiences with the
brand and do keep an eye open for nice GJ deals.

I understand that among pipesters it's regarded somewhat behind
Stanwell's pipes in quality. Why, I don't know, but as this seems to
be the conventional wisdom on ASP it must be due to prevalence.
Certainly, there are a lot more Stanwells about.

Anyway, even budget range Jensens are usually good. (Have heard
comments on and can personally vouch for the "Special" line in that
respect).

Anyways, hope this helped at least a bit.

Tervehdys Jari,

I am sorry as I cannot help you about the dating of GJ pipes, but I
believe Georg is out of business now. :(

I own only one GJ pipe, namely a slightly bent smooth apple "Smaragd".

It is in my rotation and I like it a lot. Very nice grain and stain
without any fills whatsoever! To me it was a bargain, but
unfortunately it is bored 9mm. I do not use any filters in it, not
even those Savinelli balsas. It smokes wonderfully without them.

Presently puffing G,H&Co's new Louisiana Flake in a Sav Autograph
with a great pleasure. This a great blend indeed!
