Shawn;
There are several shops in the Cleveland area. Downtown, East of the
Cuyahoga, West of it. really not a bad area for pipe tobacco. Not like
COlumbus but decent. Several have decent to good selections of tinned
tobacco. Nobody around here has Solani blends for example and there
aren't any loose tins of any Dunhill labeled stuff but there is
GLPease, McClelland, MacBaran some Rattray etc. Are you passing
through or moving here? Where are you going to be? I'll give you the
best shop(s) to visit and directions, just let me know.Chances are, if
you're looking for it around here, I either know where to get it or
already have it all (lol)

Many years ago, when I frequented Cleveland on business, I used to
visit this place in Downtown. I wonder if Christopher is still the
manager there.
Sam Klein;s is no more. I believe Chris is managing the Dad's location
at Kamm's Corner.

He did say something about another store, of a colleague or partner.
That was around 1992 or so. Among other treasures, I still have a 200
g tin of Sobranie smoking mixture from the Sam Klein store, aging. If
you are chatting with Chris, please ask him if he remembers a Canadian
who used to visit his store back in the early 90s. I would be
surprised if he remembered me after all these years, however.
Most every shop in Cleveland is owned by the same fellow. Danny Kolod.
ALong with his wife Chryl and their daughter Kelly. Nice folks. Sam
Klein's was sold and has become no more than an arab owned lottery and
cigarette stop with some food iI believe.
There are I believe 5 shops in the area owned by the Kolod family. One
at E 18th and Euclid, one on Lorain Rd at Rocky River, one in Avon
which I've yet to get to, one on Chagrin Blvd in Woodmere and a small
Kiosk type stope in the great Lakes Mall.
There are two other shops in the suburbs not owned by the Kolods.
there is Port Royal CIgar in Solon and JoVann's on Mayfield Rd in
Mayfield Hts. Port Royal has a very small selection of tinned tobacco.
JOVann's is better. If I'm hanging out, it's usual at the Cousin's at
E.18th and Euclid.

Let's face it, that kind of store probably makes more money and even
in Cleveland, downtown rent ain't cheap. Lottery, sandwiches,
cigarettes, snacks are all big sellers at lunch and on the way. Plus, I
think you can still get those little plastic tipped "cigars" filled
with pipe tobacco! (lol)

My local store is a liquor / convenience store, and yes, it's run by
Sikhs from India. Those guys are awesome, and while they charge a
whole lot for food, on the whole, I enjoy being one of their best
customers.

Most of the time, if you see a cheap cigar in a liquor store, it's
meant to be cut open, the tobacco removed, and the wrapper used as a
rolling paper for pot. These days, you don't have to hassle yourself
with the whole process. You just buy blunt papers, i.e. cigar wrapper,
usually flavored. Not that I know anything about that.
