This is my second attempt for info from the group. Thanks you for your
patience.

I originally inquired about the possible value of the pipes and the best way
to dispose of them. I got no response regarding the values although several
of you indicated I should list them on ebay and let the market decide. I
guess I'll end up doing this but wanted to appeal to the list to keep me
from doing anything stupid.

Are any of the pipes listed below anything other than normal? I'd hate to
sell a $100 pipe for $5 although I'm sure the buyers among you would like
that... : )

Below is a listing of most of the pipes I have. I also have pictures of
most of these on my web site.

With the exception of the Castello and Carlo Scotti (also a Castello), the
remainder of the pipes appear to be relatively low-end pipes. However, some
of the pipes may be sought after by individual collectors and may be worth
more than my best guess. Your best bet is to sell on ebay. The reason for
this, and I'm sure many here will agree, is that pipes on ebay often sell at
prices far higher than many knowledgeable smokers/collectors would be
willing to pay. General perception (there are exceptions) is that ebay is a
seller's market. Many people buy on ebay because they do not have access to
quality pipe shops or because they perceive they are getting a good deal. I
would venture to guess that not too many sellers feel they've been "taken"
on ebay. Someone else may wish to opine on whether or not you're likely to
come out better selling them as a lot or selling them individually. My
guess would be individually - obviously this is a lot more work for you,
however.

Just my 2 cents.

I'd agree with Ed . Most are in the low range except the Castello , with the exception of the
Kaywoodies , and I don't know enough about Kaywoodies to know whether these are collectable or not .
If you sold the others for $5 each you would not really be hurting yourself IMO . However , my
expertise in the area is not profound by any means :)

If you put them on e-Bay with no reserve I think you would have a better than fair chance of getting
your value out of them .

Following are my comments. Pipe marked '?' are unknown to me and altough I
surely don't know a lot of wonderful pipes in the world, odds are they are
very low end pipes. I'll give you a value idea provided the pipes are in good
conditions previously professionally cleaned and polished

My advice: if you know nothing about pipes, selling them on ebay will result
in a frustrating effort. I do it, and what I can say is any pipe sold has in
a good hour of labour in (for me). For me, it's a nice hobby and I have fun
to write about my pipes. Also, I mostly have pipes that are worthing that
hour of labour.

Your batch, in my opinion, would have no balance between time spent and
outcome. Personally, I'd try to sell them as a lot for $100 to a shop or to
some other professional or amateur seller.

He'll throw away 2/3 of the lot, will clean the rest and will be able to sort
out with $200, maybe.

If you find the buyer, I'd go for it.

On the other side, if you think to have fun in the process to sell on ebay,
then you have a lot of fun in front of you.

Ciao

Antonio
